Senator Wammako Fueling #ShiaGenocide in Sokoto State:

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako is the former Governor of Sokoto state and is presently a serving Senator in the National Assembly. When Sokoto state Governor Tambuwal moved to the opposition party, PDP, Senator Wammako assumed the leadership of Buhari's party in Sokoto state.

Sokoto state is one of the states declared Inconclusive by the electoral body, INEC, in the recently concluded Governorship elections. A re-run was slated on Saturday.

In 2007 when Wammako was the Governor of Sokoto state, the Shia community was attacked by sponsored hoodlums, dozens were killed, shops and houses burnt and millions worth of properties destroyed. Martyr Sheikh Qassem Umar and 100+ members of the Islamic Movement were arrested and framed by the Wammako regime. They spent more than 7 years in prison before an Appeal Court freed them of all charges.

This same Wammako is planning another attacks on the peaceful Shia community in Sokoto state. Exactly on Thursday, 7th March, 2019, Wammako assembled Sunni Scholars in Sokoto state and told them that "Shiites are allied with PDP, they should mobilize their supporters against Shiites and PDP!" This is a compound lie with no bases. The Nigerian Shia community like all communities have the right to belong to any political party and vote for the candidate of their choice.

The International community should hold Senator Wammako responsible for any attacks on the peaceful Shia community in Sokoto state before or after the election.
