3 points in the bag, +3 GD, 3 rivals dropping points.

on to the next one. . .
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by slimshay(m): 5:42pm On Sep 11, 2010
Ritchboy abeg only one rival dropped point. We are the Arsenal, we don't tussle with undeveloped muscles.

Who else thinks Walcott might just have had another hattrick if he had been on today?

And in other news: Olorioko is back. There is only one Cesc Fabregas

I no fit shout. . . . the assist machine is back in the groove. cool

duduspace:

Interesting view point Kay but I wonder maybe he is usually there to make these so called mistakes because he has a good nose for danger, my assessment of Koscielny has been that he will make few mistakes but when he does, they will usually be costly ones, still a damned good defender nevertheless. For someone still in adaptation he is doing quite well.

If that's the case, Squillaci better be the first choice alongside Vermaelen. We can't afford to have another player whose costly mistakes cost goals almost each time. We already have enough of that in monsieur Clichy.

Three points, goal difference increased so not a bad day at the office overall. I hope the injuries aren't too serious and we can now focus on racking up the points in anticipation of the Chelski clash.

Good to see Denilson back. . . Hope Diaby is ok though.

Those 2 passes by Roiscky and Cesc to Arshavin and Vela respectively(with the latter resulting in the 4th goal) have to be the PASSES OF THE WEEK! cool

If we really want to win ANYTHING at all,we should quit with the "on the job training stunt",it's obvious Kos is still a potential and not the "finished-product" CB we so crave. While he will definately improve,i feel she shoud be made to garner experience by watching Verminator-Squill's combo,as it's obvious the latter is a better option.

That 2nd paragraph you might want to delete very quickly, I'm guessing you wrote it before the blitz that came in the 2nd half.  grin grin grin
Theo's pace will always be an asset but I think its impact is overrated particularly when its not matched with spot on decision making(thats a personal viewpoint before A-40 raises hell). For example I believe Adam Johnson deserves that RW role in the 3 lions ahead of him at present because despite not having Theo's pace, he seems to get more results on the pitch than Theo, but Oga Fabio thinks otherwise so there must be something both he and Arsene see in Theo that I don't see.

Why should i delete it?We were wasteful and sometimes scrappy in the first half.I don't know if it's the int'l break but our play seemed so inefficient and less incisive and direct(which was why i mentioned Walcott) for most part. And when we eventually come through,we were so wasteful, with Arsh been the most culpable.

Also it seems you've not been watching Theo's recent matches,he's a vast improvement over last season and his decision making have been 8/10 so far.And don't judge him with his 3 Lion involvement, that team doesn't have the creativity that our midfielders possess. The fact Capello and Wenger have stick with him says a lot too.

I like the look of AJ too,i just wish he plays under Ferguson or Redknapp as i think he more of Giggs kind of player.

BTW,i do not know which was more laughable,Evra's RobertoCarlos-like bicycle kick or Green's gaffe. grin And what was that Everton-Man U ref doing stopping a goal bound move via final whistle? undecided

Shaky 1st half but overall 3 point is important and its good to see FABREPASSES at his best. 1000 goals under Wenger

Na u know bro

@Duduspace
I am sure you missed the build up to england's first goal which is why you are here questioning his role in that squad but I am not suprised in ur eyes the boy can't just do right

I don't rate Djourou as a player so no comments on him

Koscielny is starting to look like crap! For how much longer shall we cope with his ineptitude?? Three games and three straight schoolboy errors now its not a coincidence we kept a clean sheet in the only game we missed! Maybe Squillaci is better suited for the job

I wanted to complain about a few things but after seeing the miracle of goodison and Nelson Valdes Jf.killin Barca I might as well shut up and post

@Ritchboy
Frog no be toad nau or how you go dey list Tottenham and City as our rivals?

That is what you get with Arsenal fans, always in a hurry to judge a player, bloke has only had how many games now? and his mistakes havent exactly been howlers. Having said that though, I think Squillaci edges it a bit for me as Verm's partner, he oozes confidence and has that air of experience about him. in 2 games I've seen him now he seems to be better defensively than Kos as he keeps things very simple with much assurance, I'll be watching with interest who Arsene makes Verm's 1st choice partner.

You don dey put words in my mouth again, I didn't question his role in the squad, I only said I prefer AJ ahead of him, The coaches who make the decisions obviously know better.

On Koscielny,
Dude is class
and will become one of the best defenders in the EPL.
I watched him closely again today and it was just unfortunate that his single mistake resulted in a goal.
He was up for it against Davies.
Saw 'stars' when Davies head clashed against his and didn't relent.

Who doesn't know that that baby giraffe called Djorou is a wastepipe? Na today? It was obvious from his debut.

Make una ask Debosky why he even reckons with Djorou, even telling us that Djorou is capable of playing midfield just because Djorou said so. Its obvious to anyone who knows or played footie that Djorou doesn't know what he's doing on the pitch and has no sense of positioning.

the most talented midfielder in the league by far! cool cool
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by dipo2much(m): 9:22am On Sep 12, 2010
Rosicky clearly is one of the most underrated midfielders in world football, and I must admit that arsenal being trophyless for so long is the major reason. He is clearly a midfied maestro. I like xavi, but even xavi cant do a rosicky on the czech's day.

as per Kos,why are my felloe gooners been so blind to this guy's goodies. all of the critic comments here, none included that he got a fought-for goal. His mistake cost us,but he is so composed, matured and constructive on the ball. He was dazed by a knock, the same kinds stuff that made agger stagger like a drunk but kos contained the shock well. The guy in my opinion is VERY COMPETENT.

as of squillaci, he was magnificient. strong, able, grown. but he has not yet bn deployed to the suspect RCB where vermalean's eventual partner will have to hold down, but looks reliable so far.

i shuld apologise to the captain, cos i was really cursin at him in the first half.

Plus,i think alnunia culd have positioned himself better for the goal we conceded.

Gibbs played SO WELL. I fear for clichy

Rosicky's technique is unrivaled. . . But injuries haven't helped his cause at all. Just imagine what he could have done during those 18 months he was out. Only people who never watched him play at Dortmund can under-rate him. The man is a genius!

co-sign 100%. He barely put a foot wrong. If that ONE mistake didnt lead to a goal, then maybe the critics would remember he actually put us in front.

Squillaci didnt disappoint either.

Gibbs played SO WELL. I fear for clichy

I see Gibbs displacing Clichy within the next 2 years. Is he the new Ashley Cole? cheesy

Hopefully the competition would inspire Clichy to recapture his 07/08 form. No one has ever really threatened to take his spot.

Sharrap there - Djourou is 4th choice CB, so let him bide his time. I still think he has a future, if he can get a consistent period free from injury. He'll definitely get a chance in the CC this season.

I won't write him off just yet. . . .he's still young for a CB and has lots of time to develop. As long as we're not relying on him as first/second choice, I am satisfied for now.

@All
Sorry for the lengthy absence. . health ish.

Good result as usual, could have been more.

Rozzy is definetely in good form, Fabregas is slowly picking up pace. . Wilshere is growing in confidence.
Arshavin needs to WAKE THE HELL UP AND TAKE HIS CHANCES.
Almunia *shakes head* still has alot of work to do. Squillaci had a decent debut and was rock solid in defence.
Kosoro? No comment undecided
Gibbs impressed. .
A few nervous moments in the game but we stood our ground and won convincingly.

A couple blunders made by the refs but well, thats football

It's good to see Nasiru return way ahead of schedule. Song is just a fine complete MF, the guy reads the game well. . breaks up counters and generally is good.
C.OY.G *sneezes* sad
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by slimshay(m): 3:10pm On Sep 12, 2010
Moderavizzle sorry o. Hope you are alrite now sha.

Meanwhile, Almunia was solid yesterday. He 'bigged' himself for the goal to force lee wide, he followed up to ensure the only optioned lee had was to put it across and give a chance to the defence to correct their mistake. Sadly they didn't.
Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by kaypumpin2(m): 3:24pm On Sep 12, 2010
We all know Rozzi is a midfield maestro and injury is not the only reason we have not seen the best of him.His talent will never be optimally utilized as a wing forward and unfortunately for him,as long as we've got Cesc, that's where he will be played mostly.Same as Nasri.

Nice spotting Kay, he shone yesterday because he didn't pretend to be a wing forward, nice tactical tweak from Arsene when Theo isn't playing I think, give Eboue the full run of the right wing and play something like 2 CAMs with one of them falling behind to join the 2 holding MFs when Eboue goes forward. The 2 holding MFs also seems to be working so far (Song and Wilshere who shows an unbelievable tactical discipline for his age).

One player that also seems to make it work is Chamakh, brilliant and hardworking player, he helps keep the ball in the opponent's half definitely a class above Bendtner with his touch as the ball always seems to somehow bounce off him unlike Chamakh who is still able to link up well with the MF while under pressure, its obvious now that the 2 main elements that make our system work is the big man who can hold and link play upfront along with 2 AMs when Theo isn't playing or 2 WFs  and an AM when he is, new found defensive balance with 2 holding MFs. As long as we can rotate well as we're doing now to keep our players fresh we should be able to keep this up all season provided injuries don't stack up.

I have very high hopes for this season.

Rosicky had a good game and suddenly he is the best thing since slice bread. GTFOH

What's next, when Almunia pulls a MOTM performance, he will be touted as the greatest GK of this generation.

Shut up. and yes,he is better than ur slice. His run of form so far has only shed a beam of lite on what his injury has so far hidden. His genius is exceptional

Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by Vieira(m): 6:08pm On Sep 12, 2010
Rosicky - gradually reminding us how good he was.

Fabregas - quietly also getting back to form.

Arshavin - getting into the right places but not finishing, he still has a lot to give back to the Arsenal

Squills - Looked confident and ready for hard action

Koscielny - One mistake but a good defender, and Kevin Davies is one of the hardest forwards.

Chamkh - He is getting better in small increments, I am hopeful he will be a good buy for us

Overall - a good solid display, and it seems we actually have a squad now. There seems to be a bit more steel in the team.
