Back to y'day's game, there might be a little more context to explain the occasionally disoriented defensive performance. We played 4 guys who've never played together - Gibbs, Squelchy, Kokomaster and Komrade Eboue. I believe a more settled back-line will likely result in better performances.

It's clear Rozzi will be better utilised in the middle, so it's up to AW to deploy him in the way that brings optimal benefit to the side.

From a defense made of old,weak legs,mixed with sheer incompetence and suspect independability in the likes of senderous,silvestre,campbell,traore and even gallas to one clearly oozing with confidence and mental stregth in verm,squillaci,kos,clichy/Gibbs, I think you are been gross in using 'mediocrity' to describe arsenals defense. for once,we have become good in the air and stable on the ball. personally,i cant wait to c verm/sqills pair. Dude its not about 50 games! Three straight errors in three straight games is not good enuff mon frere. Had Bolton won or drew I doubt you would not have listed Koscielny as a factor but like they say you learn more in defeat than in victory and judging from your responses its not hard to tell that is the case

Ask yourself if we woulda gotten away with those errors if we where a Fulham,Blackburn or Birmingham who are offensively challenged. What if we where facing a stronger team that could force more errors? You guys should learn to look at the big picture! If we are going to win trophies we need to imbibe a defensive culture!

A40 good shout but if you've been following my post when I bother to be serious my number 1 concern is defence. The reality is we are not any of these guys because we have a far superior attacking potential. That is not taking for granted that we'll always put 3 to 4 past opponents tho. What we need to do like you rightly said is imbibing a strong team-defensive culture.
Not just one defender, not just the defense but the whole team.
I still like pointing the blackburn goal, it will have been a total non-issue if either diaby or vp had challeneged in the middle. because simply put samba lacks the skill to dribble either one of them.
