History revisionists.
Though Shagari had Ekwueme as his VP in 1979 and 1983, Igbo presidential candidate in those elections was Nnamdi Azikiwe, who got more than 80% of votes in Imo and Anambra States, the two Igbo States as of them.
It was after the 1979 when NPN( Shagari and Ekwueme party) couldn't get the majority in the NASS to form an outright majority, that they invited NPP(Zik's party) for a coalition government, while conceding the House of rep speaker position to NPP as a gesture of kindness, which NPP nominated Ume-ezeoke for.

The North will continue to Rule us and unlike 2015 if the South West is hoping or expecting the South East to start another agitation get killed while they continue to negotiate with the North forget it .

again in 2007 Buhari picked an Igbo man as running mate he was rejected the second time in the South East .Edwin Ume-Ezeoke was Buhari running mate in 2007


Yoruba is not Federal Government. Focus on building a good opposition to the Government in center.

Talking about betrayal of southern unity, are you aware that Awolowo attempted to build a united south to defeat the north in 1979? The 1979 presidential election was a clear race between Shagari and Awolowo. While Shagari opted for a southern running mate in Ekwueme, Awolowo against well informed advice opted to nominate an Igbo man as his running mate thereby throwing up a south/south ticket. Guess what; Igbos opted to support Shagari/Ekwueme ticket ahead of the all south ticket. That was the height of southern betrayal as far as I’m concerned.

We can even go back to the 1959 general election where no party had majority in parliament. Awolowo approached Azikiwe to form a southern unity government but guess what; Azikiwe opted to form an alliance with Sadaurna against the overall interest of the south.

I won’t talk about how Igbos betrayed the southern candidate in the 1993 presidential election. So bro, get your historical knowledge right before talking shit online about what you don’t understand.

Shagari won comfortably without Yoruba support. All Awolowo could do was sue him for being declared winner without winning 25% in 2/3 of the states.

OBJ won his first tenure without Yoruba support. Ndiigbo endorsed OBJ Two Times and gave him block votes.
We endorsed GEJ in 2011 and gave him block votes.
We endorsed Yaradua in 2007 with block votes.
In all instances, they won. You have no point.


Yoruba votes are usually divided and don't come in block if a Yoruba isn't contesting for the presidency. Your votes are too divided to be useful or a decider in national elections, you can't deliver block votes.
