A front hug is a sort of sexual hug because your pressed against the other person. A side hug is a more respectful hug and is the kind you would give a friend. Either hug can be friendly though. If you hold the hug, and let it linger, then you are usually implying to the other person you like them as more than a friend. But if they pull away, they want to be just friends.

A side hug is very platonic. No meaning in it, just friendly. It doesnt mean anything. Its like family, my son hugs my family with side hugs.
