Anglican Church Demands Apology From Obiano For ‘Betraying’ Igbos by unclesuruoffi: 9:33pm On May 03, 2019
The Anglican Church in Anambra State has demanded an apology from Governor Obiano for ‘betraying’ Igbos in the run-up to the last general elections. The Anambra State Governor who was asked to tender unreserved apology to Ndigbo for allegedly insulting the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, was also asked to apologize over his 'open support' for President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection during the electioneering campaign.

The Bishops Charge presented on Friday by Rt. Rev. Samuel Ezeofor at the 2nd Session of the Fifth Synod of Diocese of Aguata holding at St James Anglican Church Uga, Aguata Local Government Area of the State, described the act as betrayal of the Igbos which, according to him, inflicted a deep wound on the people of the region. The leaders of the Anglican who demanded an apology from Governor Obiano for ‘betraying’ Igbos, said;

“The insult Chief Willie Obiano laid on President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo was a betrayal of the highest order, a betrayal of the whole Igbo people, a betrayal of his own people. It was an insult on the whole of Igbo race and we call on him, His Excellency Chief Willie Obiano to apologize to Ndigbo. We do not know how Governor Obiano can explain the stance he took but may it please him to know that he wounded us so deep in his bid to stop his benefactor Sir Peter Obi. We also need to let the Governor know that we are not unaware of his moves against the Anglican faithful in Anambra State.”

Can you imagine!

If you demand an apology from Gov Obiano, what do you demand from NK who had severally insulted the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo and did more damage to the emergence of your preferred candidate by his election boycott order?

fact is that Obiano is an Aguleri man and Aguleri people are igalas and not even igbos in the first place, so I'm not surprised

If this is true then the Anambra branch of Anglican Church has lost it. Not apologies for not supporting Atiku dollars and obituary

This is how Ibo play politics -

1. make a long list of enemies
2- make a long list of betrayals
3. lament to UN about his enemies and lament to Nigerians about his betrayers.

They have zero political value beyond these three.

If Obiano did not change he will learn the hard way in the next Governorship election in the state.

Obiano is a smart governor. He's fully on ground and in charge of the state. If this people think they can intimidate him, they should think twice.

He simply aligned himself with the winning team and he's properly covered.

I think politics should be played for the interest of the people without tribal or political affiliation.

I like Obiano. Igbos should learn how to play politics. This approach is too backward.

That Anglican man is so stupid. it's him and his likes that are messing up Igbos passing message of ethnicity and hatred. As for Nnia Nwodo, he should know he is the worst President of ohaneze in history. His selfish, hatred and ethnic disposition has so degraded the Igbo race in Nigerian politics today such that we Igbos are hardly remembered or counted in serious political discourse. So, him and this yeye politician who camouflages as Anglican cleric should just go and sit down.

Igbo and tribalism. Even in church. An igbo friend was telling me about a certain priest who used the word "ofe mmanu people" in a church service. That Priest was later suspended. Don't know if it will be the same now

Judging by the hateful comments against Buhari you can tell most Igbos on Nairaland are only Christians by word of mouth

I am no IBO...

But if I was, I might applaud the sentiment being whipped up by the reverend and his ilk. However, as a christian, I would be wary of such gatherring. A christian leader should not be found being tribalistic, it defeats the whole purpose. If the seed my preacher is sowing is that of hatred and division where there's no need of it, i would be worried and might and might avoid church altogether.

Shame on the leadership of the Anglican Church if those involved in this are not called together. Let politics be of individual preference, do not allow the church be a tool for partisan politics and especially, bigotry.

Bro you will see something like I am moving into the dominion of Christ on their signature but they will be wishing Hausas and Yorubas death with their comments

And I begin to wonder how they live with themselves with that level of hypocrisy.
