Military Shake Up: Army Redeploys GOCs, Senior Officers

The Nigerian Army yesterday effected changes in its top hierarchy, with the redeployment of principal staff officers, formation and corps commanders, and commandants of training institutions, as well as staff officers at the Defence and Army Headquarters.

A statement issued by the Director of Army Public Relations Brigadier-General Chris Olukolade, said Major General J.O Shoboki is now the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Kaduna while Brigadier-General M.D Abubakar assumes duties as GOC 2 Division, Ibadan. Major General S.O Idoko resumes as GOC 3 Division, Jos.
It further said Brigadier General K.T.J Minima will resume in Lagos as GOC 81 Division while Major General S.Y Bello becomes GOC 82 Division, Enugu.

Brigadier General M.A Nasamu assumes duties as Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison while E.J. Atewe is Commander, Brigade of Guards.

In the same vein, Major General Chukwuemeka O. Onwuamaegbu moves to Kaduna as the Comm-andant of the Nigerian Defence Academy. Onwu-amaegbu is the first officer from the Southeast to head the NDA, in the 46-year history of the academy.
Major General M.A Yerima moves to Defence Headquarters as Chief of Training and Operations while Major General C.O Omoregie is the new Commander of the Joint Task Force.

At the Army Head-quarters, Major General O Akinyemi emerged the new Chief of Policy and Plans; Major General L.P Ngubane, Chief Training and Operations; Major General B.S Usara, Chief of Army Standards and Evaluation; Major General B.C Azunrunwa, Chief of Logistics, and Major General A.B Maitama, Chief of Administration.

The postings, according to the statement, were carried out to cater to deployments in the force following the recent retirements and appointments in the Nigerian Army. It further stated that the affected officers are expected to resume at their new posts immediately.

I mean the Nigerian Army is very organised unlike the Navy.
