I wish to know if the governors have the exclusive or constitutional right to dissolve local government officials tenure that are yet to complete their tenure under the constitution. I have seen different scenarios where immediately a governor is being sworn in, the next thing is to dissolve the local govt council especially if the governor is in the opposition camp. Why must a governor dissolve the council if the officials are validly elected by the electorate through the State Independent Electoral Commission? A case is that of the newly sworn in Oyo state governor who just dissolve the local govt council in Oyo State. Is his action justifiable under the constitution?
