Before now during ameachi era as a governor, river state was regarded as the capital of south south both politically and economically.

The last several years has seen infrastructure and development in river state gone down and a new state emerging as the new juggernaut.

Akwa ibom-uyo has been progressing non stop from akpabio and now to Udom.

From many factories been open to recreational activities, akwa ibom has it all.

It's regarded as the best state with good road network in the entire country.

The akwa ibom stadium is a world class on it's own besting any stadium in south south.

Akwa ibom now has it's own airport.

The only thing missing is a sea port and more factories and akwa ibom state will overtake Lagos as Nigeria economy power house.

River state better sit up. Akwa ayaya

God bless akwa ibom
God bless south south
God bless Nigeria

Don't deceive yourself or others. Akwa Ibom doesn't have it all and still has a very long way to go to compete with lagos in terms of infrastructure, economy, jobs.

However, negatively, Akwa Ibom is fast competing with lagos in areas of overcrowding, traffic jams, street hawkers taking over roads around plaza, Ikot Ekpene, Abak, Oron and Aka Road, poor housing and light supply etc.

Akwaibom is simply blessed with good leaders.

Instead of ikpeazu of abia state to imitate them he will kill himself because abia leaders have vow to share everything among themselves.

more population of people flooding into the state equal to more revenue for the government.

In the next 20 years of things keep going good for the state, I believe it will surpass Lagos state

It doesn't necessarily mean so. Standard of living is going down, poor residential and sanitary environment. More traffic, low living wage, poor electricity, traffic jams, Keke, road sellers, mini bus taking over the road. Besides, more than 90% of the so-called revenue generated is and will be swallowed by politicians without any real benefit to the citizens

Akwa Ibom is not in same league as Rivers. There is no need to debate it. What Rivers has in economic infrastructure, Akwa Ibom can only dream and hope.

1) NLNG plant

2) 2 of Nigerias 4 refineries

3) Indorama Petrochemicals plant

4) FLT and FOT Onne

5) A true international airport

6) OIL and Gas free trade zone.

7) HQ/Operational area of Shell, Agip, Total/Elf.

These alone gives Rivers so much edge over Akwa Ibom. The IGR of Rivers (over N100B) speaks for it.

Am not sure you have stayed in Akwa Ibom or Rivers State before. It's better you stop talking, leave the South South alone face your region and it's numerous problems

I don't see why not. That is if the oil money is put to good use. Rivers has lost the plot (it's as if the state has stopped developing infrastructurally) so AKS is the only other strong contender and alternative. Cross River no longer has oil money so it's not even in contention. undecided

cool

A state run airline, state owned seaport under way, state owned 5 star hotel and a stadium of worldclass standard... Rivers is only basking on old glory and are not been strategic for the future unlike Akwa ibom

I wont live in Rivers for a 1 million dollars.

Kidnapping HQ of FRN.

Akwa Ibom is still calmer and more serene.

He was comparing AKS to Rivers. Where did you pull Lagos from?

And traffic jams in Uyo are far from competing with those in Lagos. Nor is there a comparable problem with overcrowding, street hawking or touts everywhere.

I am from Enugu but I tell you this

No state in Nigeria will overtake Lagos in the next 50 years.

Lagos mainland alone is better than Uyo

Until you go to the Island.

You can tell us uyo is good. Don't compare with Lagos.

Even akwa ibom is under achieving for its wealth. Their leadership is still average to me.

Akwa ibom, Delta, Rivers, Abia.

If I handle any of these sleeping states, you wouldn't believe your eyes.

They have enough resources for me to work with.
