RE: KOGI PEOPLE HAVE LOST CONFIDENCE IN GOVERNOR BELLO

The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has been drawn to comments made by one Tunde Ajibulu, a self-styled chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kogi State in the Vanguard of 16 June, 2019, as republished in Kogireports and other online media.

Mr. Ajibulu who was speaking all the way from Ikoyi, Lagos alleged that the people of Kogi State have lost confidence in Governor Yahaya Bello. He also decried the adoption last Saturday of indirect primaries for the Kogi governorship elections in November by our State Executive Committee (SEC) and dismissed it as a sham. Mr Ajibulu who cited an imaginary division in Kogi APC insisted that our chapter must be denied the right to determine our own mode of primaries.

First of all, Mr. Tunde Ajibulu may belong to the APC in Kwara or Lagos (doubtful), but he is not a member or stakeholder in Kogi APC. We do not know Tunde Ajibulu in Kogi APC. He has never participated in any of our programmes and has never supported the chapter in cash or kind.

A 'chieftain' who missed all meetings, rallies, congresses and elections held by his party from polling unit to state level for 4 years, is that one a chieftain?

A 'chieftain' who never saw fit to join us and the Governor at different fora over the last 4 years when we hosted leaders of our party including the President, the Vice President, the National Chairman, many National Officers and assorted dignitaries, is that one a chieftain?

Apparently, after ignoring APC Kogi for 4 straight years, Tunde Ajibulu has suddenly discovered a gubernatorial ambition for 2019 and believes he can jump on APC Kogi and use us as his donkey for a triumphal ride into Lugard House.

A man who proudly proclaims himself a protégé and diehard supporter of Bukola Saraki, and counts Dino Melaye of the PDP among his personal associates must understand that his game of deceit has been exposed from afar.

No true APC member will align with the former Senate President who was recently retired with glee by his own people of Kwara Central Senatorial District for the setbacks his inordinate ambition caused the President and the Party in the last 4 years. Yet Ajibulu wears his Oloye connections like an alaye and admits to doing more of his 'politics in Kwara'.

To clarify, Mr. Ajibulu's fear is that our SEC properly exercised the rights granted by NEC to all APC chapters in the 36 states and the FCT to choose what mode of primaries they prefer from the methods prescribed in our constitution.

SEC also made this same choice for the national and state assemblies elections earlier in the year, and as Mr. Ajibulu must have heard, our peaceful conduct of primaries worked like a charm for us then. It will again this August and November.

It is therefore important that we let Tunde Ajibulu know that we see through his schemes with enemies within and without to cost APC the November gubers in Kogi State. We are waiting for him and the other actors in the subsequent acts of this drama.

JOSHUA ONOJA
APC State Secretary
Kogi State.
