Yes a graduate America will not be paid 36k working in an embassy. Diplomats are one of the most paid government jobs. The reason is not far fetched. As a foreign service officers, you represent your country and her secret in another country. In fact most diplomats are in secret service or retired. So their financial wellness and mental state is a high consideration for staff. One reason is to prevent bribe and defection.

The average amount a US foreign service officer earn is $99, 638 (36million Naira annually). In addition they are provided housing, healthcare, insurance and education for family members. So whatever they are paying Nigerians is a living wage. They have calculated the minimum index of financial living in Nigeria before arriving at a Nigerian Annual. The reason for this discussion was to dissuade the mind of people believing the jobs advertised are meant for Americans or filled. This is a typical job at the US embassy that don’t need any connections.

Nigerians foreign service officer are also paid well abroad. In the US. A Nigeria graduate diplomats earns up to $60,000 dollars annually. This is a reflection of living wage in US.
