Ordinary 14million dollars to be shared by over 70 universities? This is not including the fact that more than half of the money won't reach the receiving ends o. What research findings would be achieved with this peanut?

This should have been put into tech business hub...creating colony for technoprenurs something similar to silicon valley simply because Nigerian higher ed curriculum is not designed to bring about advancement we desire as a nation. The much needed ideas are in the hand of these young people with tech solutions. Before you crucify me...I work within higher ed industry.

Sometimes I really pity Nigeria with Nairaland being a microcosm of the country. You can see what those chaps are saying there calling people wailers etc. A paltry 5 billion naira for a big country like ours yet, we want to compete with countries where one corporation spends up to $100 million on research in a year. Nigeria is really a joke. Let the keep speeding on ruga, welcome package etc. We'll surely reap from those too. But nobody should expect any technological advancement from this country.

When the Academic community were critiquing the Ghanaian govt for estimating to spend 0.25% of its gdp which is abt 50bn naira on academic research in 2018, the chest-beating giant of Africa is spending 5bn.
