The Sunnis and the Shiites have age long feud.An average Sunni sees Shiites as irritants and coackraoches that should be crushed and I guess the feeling is mutual too.

It is unfortunate that one group enjoys the use of state apparatus at its disposal to deal with the other. Make no mistake , the group at the receiving end will likely do the same were they in power.

My plea is that these two groups should not involve other sane Nigerians in their supremacy battle and not turn Nigeria into battle a field of proxy wars between some Middle East Countries

Former Senator Shehu Sani has urged the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, and other prominent Islamic leaders to ensure the release of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife.

Sani told journalists on Sunday that the proscription of the group would worsen the crisis, Igbere TV reports.

He said: “The solutions to IMN problem, in my personal opinion, are four. The first is that the Sultan of Sokoto and other religious leaders should provide guarantee to the Federal Government on which the leader of the IMN would be released to them. Secondly, the IMN should stop all forms of protest, whether peaceful or violent.

“The third aspect of it: the government should move towards addressing the problems of their members who were killed and their homes that were destroyed, in compliance with the previous court orders.

“The fourth aspect of it is that the movement should stop its alleged relationship with nations outside of Nigeria that pose security threats on our country. If they are a movement, they should be a movement; as the name implies, a Nigerian movement to pursue their ideas, their beliefs and whatever they preach.”

The former lawmaker said everything must be done to avoid a situation where the movement would suddenly disappear from the radar to spring surprises, Igbere TV reports.
