President Muhammadu Buhari has described the late MKO Abiola as a bridge builder who could have prevented the religious and tribal issues besetting the country now from happening, if he had been allowed to rule Nigeria. Receiving Elders and Leaders of Thought from Ogun State at the State House, President Buhari said: “If MKO Abiola was allowed to rule, the religious and tribal issues now in Nigeria would not have been as strong, because he ran on a Muslim-Muslim ticket, chose his deputy from the Kanuri, a minority tribe and because of his personality, he went across Nigeria and was accepted.

“He used his resources and energy to convince Nigerians that all he wanted was a solid Nigeria and nothing else.” He said that he named the National Stadium after the late politician because he knows that the youths would want to find out why such an important national institution was named after MKO Abiola in future.

The Ogun State delegation, led by the governor, had come to thank the president for the honour done the late MKO Abiola, an indigene of the state, by conferring on him the highest national honour, Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) for his ultimate sacrifice in enthroning democracy.

The delegation used the opportunity to solicit for the rehabilitation of some federal roads as well as other critical infrastructure in the state.

I don't agree. Yes he won the election. Yes he was widely supported by Nigerians both in the north and south.

However, all these are not enough for us to say he would have been a great leader.

The problem is Nigerians have really short memory. This is a man that stole funds that would have helped the common man. Used the money to enrich himself. Came back spraying the money around because he had political agenda and the same common man who was robbed in the first place said he was generous. To me that is far from being generous.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, we do not know if Abiola would have made a good leader. I for one would agree with Fela when it comes to Abiola because he wasn't wrong about Obasanjo who came back as a civilian president and was still a thief.

See who is talking, the most divisive president Nigeria has ever had.
The defender of Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram terrorists.

Nigeria is an expired entity which always dwell on “IF” all the time. If this was this and that was that, it would have been better IF Nigeria never existed!!

Buhari is the only president in Nigeria who has aligned with sheer divisiveness and ethnic bigotry! Even to his brothers the Shia Muslims!!

That is simply the truth. Not now that some fifth columnists and fake activists are occupying political space causing all sorts of religious and ethnic war not minding the implications to the well being of their children yet unborn.

When Nigeria decides to get rid of all these analog minded leaders that's when Nigeria will move forward.

Until then, I subscribe to the words of Pius Adesanmi (God rest his soul), Nigerians living in Nigeria may not get to experience the 21st century in the 21st century.

The dullard is simply trying to say that the Muslim / Muslim ticket would have solved a lot of issues. He is systematically telling y'all to expect that combination in 2023

Gbam, an uneducated Nigeria then had more decency than now, Abiola's elections was a rebuke of the classical idiocy being displayed by many devilish politicians who support descension and hatred as politics

The second coming of MKO is Tinubu . He’s got MKO anointing. Come 2023 Nigerians will repeat the 1993 event . Tinubu was the first governor to make an Igbo man a commissioner. Who’s more competent than Tinubu?. Let him come out

Which others? You mean the youths that can't see past their ethnic affiliation and curse each others ethnic groups on social media?

Or the youths that are busy calling themselves Marlians and dancing to "soapy" music?

When and if I find like minds, maybe...just maybe...
