i still wonder who shot the video and who uploaded it ,didn't they think the video will implicate them? They will never get the fleeing kidnapper, the guys who are experts in catching kidnappers are reduced by 3 officers, the kidnapper himself is long gone across the Nigerian border.

This is what you get when the military is involved in internal security. Why are soldiers at checkpoints within the country in the first place. This is wrong. The military should be deployed to locations and areas which are active conflict zones alone, i.e. war zones. These locations are and should be void of the civilian population in the first place so these conflicts should not happen.

The way internal security goes is that If the government finds that crimes are escalating beyond the capability of the police in terms of spread and numbers it then increases the number of policemen and cuts down the number of military men to balance the security budget. If there is an increase in intensity of crimes then there is a 'militarised wing' of the police force(incidentally insignia bears wings' which is the mobile police who are better armed and better trained to handle higher intensity operations.

So you match intensity with intensity by increasing equipment and training. You donot match intensity of insecurity by deploying the military and downgrading the police. The police is not subservient to the military. They are trained to handle civil matters and are trained to interface with ordinary citizens and with the criminal justice system to which the military is not.

We should stop using the military in non conflict, pure civilian areas. If an area is technically engulfed in war then the necessary steps should be taken by the national assembly to declare martial law, the civilains moved out and the insurgents engaged. When such operations are completed the same National Assembly should reinstate civil authority and civil law enforcement. That is how sane, progressive countries organise themselves.

No reasonable government will bring the police and military in open conflict with one another sharing the same responsibilities of security on the same patch of ground. These are the reasons why. Lives would be lost needlessly. The government should wake up.

The kidnap kingpin has a lot of secret deals with the NA as regards the kidnapping business.

Don't be surprised that he has left the country and if he is still within the country, you will soon hear he was found dead to cover up the secrets.

the officers in irt are not up to 20 or so in the whole country if what I hear is correct, losing 3 officers in that unit is a big blow ,to train an officer in this unit will take a lot of resources .
