The refinery land is 4 times the size of Victoria Island. It will take one at least 3 hours to drive round the premises.

* When completed, it will have the capacity to produce 650,000 barrels per day. This will make Nigeria not just self-sufficient but would make Nigeria a major exporter of petroleum products.

That's what many people thought. It's understandable if the project will cost $13b. Reading peoples comments on IG where it was posted by Otedola people thought the machine alone costs 13b usd. Even the caption of the thread is misleading

Oga, steam generator is for steam production, an important utilty with diverse uses in the refinery and not necessarily for electricity generation. Even if part of the steam is used for electricity production, it would still be far cheaper to produce electricity inhouse than tap from the national grid due to economies of scale.

A heat recovery steam generator is not necessarily meant to generate electricity, but to recover heat from a hot gas stream and generate steam for other purposes which could include powering the refineries turbines.
