So Why Do We Pray? One of the greatest Christian Privilege is Prayer and according to the Bible, we are admonished to never allow anxiety to rule our lives but by prayer and supplication, our request should be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

It is necessary that all of us learn how to pray more and better everyday, but a major reason why we have not been praying more is that there are questions about prayer we need answers to.

These unanswered questions creates an uncertainty and this may make us become neutral and hesitant about this spiritual activity.

For us to answer the question, “why do we pray”? We should go to the Holy Bible. The Book of 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to pray continuously with faith.

So Why do we Pray?
1.The Antidote to Anxiety is Prayer.
Looking at this world filled with so much trouble and chaos, God’s word encourages us to pray at all times about anything and everything. Prayer eliminates our weariness and anxiousness. The book of Mathew 11:28 urges us to cast all our burdens on Jesus and he will give us rest”

2. Our Relationship With God becomes more deeper through Prayer.
God created humans to connect and communicate with his creation and when we pray we connect with him. Prayer simply means talking to God, just like we talk to our family members and friends. Prayer is a powerful medium that brings us closer to God. Prayer renews and transforms us and it builds our spiritual life

3. Jesus Laid The Example of Prayer.
Jesus life and ministry on earth teaches us how he was in constant communication and fellowship with his father. There was no way he could know the mind of his father is he was not communicating with him. If Jesus who was sinless could seek after the father and pray always, how much more we, humans, need to do his will and pray always.

In Conclusion
God cares for us and that is why we should pray (1 Peter 5:7). God has placed so much interest in us that he wants us to get him involved in our daily activities. Our father is a great listener and he promises to help, protect, preserve and fulfill all his promises over our lives.

Great message you have here.

It is true that we are predestined by God but a lot is required of us to bring that calling into manifestation since there is always a contest and battle for the fulfilment of our purpose.

The birth of Jesus was predicted in the book of Isaiah. In spite being the son of God, a woman we rarely talk about in the Bible spent 84 years of her life praying and fasting in a temple for the manifestation of that prophecy. She was a prophetess, by the name Anna (Luke 2:36) [not the same Hannah, mother of Samuel in the old testament]

We rarely remember the efforts of people like Anna today. In fact, asides the birth process which of course Mary (whom some people have turned to idols) played a role, a lot do not understand key factors in the fulfilment of his Ministry on earth.

If a woman could do nothing for 84 years but fasting and praying consistently for the birth of the son of God, then we don't have any excuse why we shouldn't pray.

Your prayer is for your benefit, not God's benefit. Although God knows everything and wants the best for His kids, there is an adversary whose main goal is to kill steal and destroy. Your prayer is your weapon in fighting this adversary.

Nice one, but it appears you left out the primary purpose of prayer which is the obedience of God's Word.

Matthew 26:41 (KJV)

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

To obey God's Word means the same thing as not falling into sin or temptation, and the reason the tempter comes to a person is make that person disobey God's Word, so prayer helps the person to make the tempter not succeed.

For a human being consists of two parts, the flesh and the spirit.

So while the flesh which emanated from the world is inclined to the things of the world such as sin and disobedience of God's Word, the spirit which came from God is inclined to the things of God such as the obedience of God's Word.

So prayer helps a human, who is also flesh, to interact with his spirit side life which is inclined to the obedience of God's Word, and hence helps the person not to sin or fall into temptation.

God bless.

Luke 11:9-10, "And I say unto you, Ask, and it
shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened
unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth;
and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that
knocketh it shall be opened.".

One thing you can say for sure is that a man who doesn't ask is not going to get it, a man who isn't looking for it isn't going to find it, and a man who doesn't knock on the door will never get it open.

For me prayer serves as a communication between father and child, that's why I pray at all times and with ease because I understand it's a relationship between two people in love

If you've ever asked your parents to give you food as a child when you were very hungry, or if you've ever reminded them of your school fees when they were the ones that put you in school, then I feel our heavenly Father expects same from us. Remember he gave Adam a wife and Adam used it against God.

1 .........GOD PROMISED US, HIS CHILDREN ALL OUR NEEDS.

Prayer is basically reminding and holding God to His Words.

NOTE; The best way to ask God for something is to thank him for doing it even if you've not seen it physically because as He has said, He knows all our needs and will surely do it at the appropriate time.

Note 2: Some unanswered prayers may be as a result of God knowing what's best for you and He not answering that particular prayer is the best thing for you.
Which is why I always end my prayers with "YOU'VE HAD OUR PRAYERS FATHER, BUT IN ALL THINGS LET YOUR WIL BE DONE."

Communication is essential in every relationship. Imagine your spouse has a need, but won't ask you because he/she thinks since you live together, you are supposed to acknowledge and attend to his/her needs. You'll think it's pride and nobody likes the proud.

sad Even though I'm a born again Christian, i think prayer is a scam because if God is the alpha and omega as proclaimed why can't he delete all our life problems and worries like kapersky antivirus does to viruses? Why must me pray like fools every day? I feel like hating God sometimes sad

lol whoever is doing this just be expecting the wrath of God very soon. purposely creating topics to make Christians question their faith but in the Muslim thread they create topics to strengthen their beliefs in bombs and suicide vests.

in the Muslim thread u see topic like; why you must die for Allah but on Sundays u will see topic like; if Mary was a virgin why did 2 men visit him..

stop it lol.

So if you don't pray god will simply let this hypothetical adversary have his way?

Doesn't sound like an omniscient, merciful, compassionate, kind and loving god to me....sounds more like an indifferent, egotistical megalomaniac.
