If there's a God that knows everything and predestined everything, prayer is a waste of time. If you have been predestined to be poor, praying to be rich is waste of time except you want God to change his mind. If God is to change his mind then being poor is not your destiny or God didn't probably know your future. |

If you need new clothes, you ask from your parents or anyone that can be of help. Same with prayer. Even if he knows all, he is simply waiting 4 to ask. Praying is just talking to God like we talk to our earthly parents. |

GoTV: God's not a man like you. He cannot reverse his decrees. They are like a chemical change and that's why he put you on earth first before you meet him in heaven so as you learn to accept the laws of earth you will also learn to cooperate with heavenly laws and then join him in heaven. The irreversible decree here is in Ps 115:16 so it's only men that can bring God to this earthly scene and that's why the Lord Jesus asked us to pray his kingdom come and his will be done. It depends on men that Gods will be done in their personal lives and in the earth as a whole. Balls in your court bro. |

/ With or without prayers, the outcome is usually the same. When successful, Christians attribute it to prayers. When unsuccessful, they look for an innocent suspect to blame. Nobody knows what's going on in God's mind that's why it is open for speculations. Sadly, it threw up all manners of charlatans claiming to speak directly to God. Remarkably, outcome of events for these charlatans are the same as ordinary folks. The probability of an event occuring is 50%. The probability of a prayer being answered is 50%. The only advantage they have over others is the ability to organize events and smooth-talk people out of cash. Prayer is man's way of boosting confidence and calming his nerves. / 1 Like |

Finallydead: Since God has the power to do anything and knows each everyone destiny, why put humans on earth to suffer? If God is actually benevolent he should do something that will not be bad for his creation. Secondly, God is the one controlling people's life if he's the one that predestined everything. |
Re: Why Do We Pray, Since God Already Knows Everything? by Etfash(m): 1:52pm On Sep 15, 2019 |
Why do we pray when God already knows what we need? 1. Because he commanded us to pray 2. When we pray, we demonstrate our dependence on Him and our trust in His ability to help us. 3. Burdens are naturally lifted in the place of prayers 4. Light (solution) comes in the place of prayer 5. Our confidence and strength is renewed in the place of prayer and so much more. Although God knows what our needs are par time, circumstances of life make it difficult to acknowledge this fact often. This is what brings in unbelief, weariness and distrust. However, when we pray, these burdens are lifted, we become light and our faith builds; God becomes pleased and solution comes. Does God answer all prayers? Depending on your definition of ANSWERS, a yes or no to the question will be correct. I believe a NO to some prayer points may mean not yet or not my will; those for me are still answers. We must understand that effective prayers are those made according to God's will on the foundation of holiness (your obedience walk with God after you have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus) and strengthened by Faith. |

tintingz: Since I am not all-knowing, I can't claim to have all answers, one reason I still need God. The above notwithstanding, let me attempt to respond to your question as follows: God is the Almighty - YES. However, He doesn't impose His will; one reason you and I have a free will. Unfortunately, the Omniscient nature of the Almighty God makes him come across as one who determined the destiny of all flesh. His Omnipotence also makes it further difficult for many to see him as good. But, come to think of it, God sees the end from the beginning and puts plans in place to address issues to come. God knew what choices Adam and Eve, King Saul, King David, Judas Iscariot, Peter etc. would make before they made them and He made his decision based on what he saw upfront. The question many of us begin to ask is "why didn't he stop men from making the wrong choices?". I believe He has the power to do so, but coercion isn't an act of love. So, the embodiment of love himself cannot be seen as such. But then, He gives second chances out of his benevolence. |

Acidosis:Bible stories taken too far. Does a father (God) throw a python(Satan) into his child's room and say his child will survive any attack from the python if the child accepts him as father, worship him,and ignore any advances from the python? UyaiIncomparabl: Everyone's given a part to play in bringing Gods will to pass and since we have free will,we get rewarded for choosing to play that part (which is by our living for him) but if u don't obey, u miss your reward and someone else gets it. So God's will will be eventually done but you will choose whether you'll be a part of the story. U dig? |
Re: Why Do We Pray, Since God Already Knows Everything? by Finallydead: 2:42pm On Sep 15, 2019 |
tintingz: If u read my post again you'd see d answer to your question. God put man on earth, not to suffer but coz he wanted him to be a part of a heavenly kingdom that has dos and donuts with real repercussions. Here is like a training ground so he wouldn't make costly mistakes in this heavenly kingdom. All the suffering of man on earth is due to one man's or another's wrong. So we can learn from this the consequence of not choosing Gods choices. However, God has also provided a way out of all suffering which is choosing his ways. The more we do the better things will get with time. About your second point, God has a preordained plan for everyone but he doesn't force us into it and yeah, it may never materialise for us if we don't follow his plans and demands. So the way God is in control is that WITH TIME his preordained will will eventually come to pass if not with you then someone else and if not today then tomorrow but surely |

Etfash:You said we have freewill then again you said God has planned everything. If God knows everything and planned it, how is freewill working here? Secondly, if God knows the outcome of Adam and Eve, why did he create them or didn't prevent any form of punishment on them? |

Finallydead:If God didn't want human to suffer why then did he allow suffering to exist? Why can't God just make human perfect and save all this unecessary drama? You're a leader, you know the future and you have all the power to stop Boko Haram attack, why did you choose not to stop Boko Haram but allow them to destroy people's life? About your second point, God has a preordained plan for everyone but he doesn't force us into it and yeah, it may never materialise for us if we don't follow his plans and demands. So the way God is in control is that WITH TIME his preordained will will eventually come to pass if not with you then someone else and if not today then tomorrow but surelyPreordaining someone's life means you already determine their life, how is freewill gonna work here? You can't have freewill and again God has already predestined what your end will be, it's conflicting. 2 Likes |

Matthew 7:7 Ask and it shall be given to you seek and ye shall find knock and the door shall be open When God created man he gave him the power of free will that is power of choices. He didn't create you like a robot he wanted fellowship and it is in that fellowship you make your request known to God |
Re: Why Do We Pray, Since God Already Knows Everything? by Finallydead: 6:59pm On Sep 15, 2019 |
tintingz: You're asking reasonable questions but just a little problem, u seem to be asking from a position of God already got it wrong somewhere. Careful now! Whenever it seems that way, u can rightly assume you're just not seeing the whole picture Because God is a loving and just God and will do no evil to his creation and he dwells in the high heavens while you dwell on this low earth with a very myopic view compared to his Is 55:8-9 but as I said its ok to ask when u don't understand and to seek until you are satisfied. Now to your query, God didn't create suffering, suffering is rather a state outside of his perfect design which we choose whenever we're tempted to go against his perfect will so we "create" and have been creating it even without knowing whenever we disobey Him. The story of Adam illustrates this There was no such suffering in Eden until Adam rebelled and continuous rebellion has led to increased suffering. God wants to rectify this that's why he came to suffer but he will have to have men cooperate with him and follow his righteousness because again he can effect nothing on earth without men's cooperation. Ps115:16, Mat 6:9-10. Again you're totally wrong to think freewill cannot coexist with pre ordinations of God. I've already said so before, the preordination by God is for a certain goal and each of us is given the opportunity to do our part in fulfilling it but as that depends on our freewill we may never do it. That will not however stop Gods goal from being fulfilled boos someone else might even have to be born just to do what you failed to do and in the end Gods gaol is still accomplished. If I have a business and I want my sons to work with me and take it over eventually and they refuse, then if I were God I'd make me more children until I finally have some to do as I wish That way I don't force anyone to choose my will but I ensure my preordained will is eventually done. |
