According to Nigeria History and Facts on Twitter, electricity was introduced into Nigeria, on the 19th of September, 1898, which was only 17 years after it was introduced in England.

At the time of its introduction, the total generation was 60 Kilowatts (KW). The line was reported to have powered the Lagos Marina, from the Government House down to Apongbon.
