How will you install CCTV in Abuja ?

They keep putting up silly proposals to waste resources. It's like saying Robots should take over jobs in Nigeria when there are actually no jobs.

Development is a stage by stage progress ? If there is no effective policing via patrols with well equipped vehicles, how can you jump into CCTV ?

$460m is 165 billion naira and can employ 5,500 policemen and pay each of them 30 million naira over 35years of their working and pension careers.

Meanwhile no interest will be charged on loan repayment because money will be disbursed peace meal. No loan situation.

If you are seeing this and you don’t comment but you are always eager to comment whenever a yahooboy gets caught just because you feel oppressed May God punish you. The real thieves are here but you are all so stupid to wish a fellow brother who has seen the future effects and has taken his futures into his hands. Continue being stupid and I bet you their unborn children will do the same thing To your own children. It’s a cycle, continue to be stupid while hating on others who are making it. Mompha will come out and still be richer than all of you who thinks you are saint just because you feel you are doing one legit job that you also scam your clients. Una never see anything.

chukxie:

Did the Chinese aporoach stupid Nigeria and other Africa countries taking unnecessary Chinese loans to come take loans? Were the loans forced down the throats of Nigeria? Our leaders flew to China to beg for loans for projects Nigeria has the money to execute in the first place. I'm neither an economist nor a financial expert but common sense tells me Nigeria has enough money to execute any projects it wants. Borrowing isn't a problem per se, every country borrows, even mighty America borrows. The difference however is that while progressive countries utilize loans judiciously because in such countries accountability matters a lot, our leaders pocket a huge chunk of the loans for their own personal use. So, bro, do not blame China for the mistakes, miscalculations of your leaders.

Thank you my brother... please school them abeg. Just by NASS cutting their $393million budget in half, they can fund so many of these projects we're taking loan (and paying interest) on. I'm not even talking about all the other sources of income the government has... just for NASS to have small mercy and reduce their salaries for the good of the nation.

Lagos N8bn Sunborn Yacht deal, bad business — APC

The All Progressives Congress, Lagos State Chapter, has said the Lagos State Government has quit the Sunborn Yacht Hotel. The party said it was a bad business and the government had abandoned the deal.

The controversial yacht, valued at about N8bn, is an inshore boat hotel.

The state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party had recently accused the state government of corruption. It challenged the state Governor, Babatunde Fashola, to speak out on the whereabouts of the yacht and the two helicopters bought by his administration for security surveillance of the state.

The state Chairman, PDP, Mr. Tunji Shelle, while addressing party faithful during the General Assembly of the chapter, had said, “After floating miserably on the Marina water for so long, the controversial Sunburn Yacht, which cost the Lagos State Government, under (former Governor) Bola Tinubu, a whooping N8bn suddenly disappeared, only to be sighted at Thames in England.

“Now, the question is: who orchestrated this 419 and who were the beneficiaries of this waste of public fund. This is certainly a fraud and (Governor Babatunde) Fashola must tell us something he knows about this fraud, failure which he remains an accessory after the fact in the fraud.”

While reacting in an online interview with our correspondent on Saturday, the state Interim Publicity Secretary, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, said the state government took a bad business decision on the yacht and had done away with it.

The Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the end of a meeting Buhari had with security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday.

The President was also said to have asked the security chiefs to intensify efforts aimed at securing the release of Leah Sharibu, the Dapchi schoolgirl still being held by Boko Haram because she refused to renounce Christianity.

In this country, Just wake up and purpose an idea as a means of siphoning money and you'll have it. A very useless nation we live in.

This is why I laugh when some people form patriotism and defend Nigeria. Nigeria is made up ethnic bigots who care less about the country. The system of govt is useless and must be changed to nation based system. So that we can hold our respective nations accountable.

They will take loans and build rail from abuja to kaduna and an enugu business man will be part of the payment plan. Very useless system of govt.

Everyone knows the status of the CCTV

Not one is working!!!!

Some where used as crash barriers by drivers

Most were vandalized; the solar panels, charge controllers and batteries removed!

It was a failed project from the start!! Who was going to clean all the solar panels in the dry season when they are coated with dust thereby reducing the efficiency of the PV cells. This same question goes for the lens of the tiny cameras they installed! What was the point??!! Was there any AI integrated into the system? ANPR? Human detection algorithms? Or they just put hundreds of cameras for the control room operators to be watching?? What sort of response unit was in place to respond to crime when caught on camera??

We are not ready!!!

It was not for CCTV in Abuja alone....
The CCTV for Abuja and Lagos part of the contract was less than 10% of the project.

The actual project was $470m (not $460m) spread across all 36 states and the FCT...
It had 5 components to provide video, audio, data and other services to the police and other security agencies.

Same thing happened to the CCTV installed in Lagos during Jonathan administration. All the CCTV are not working and most of it has been vandalized. If you see the speed at which the CCTV was installed self you so much believe it would really work

APC SHOULD QUIT PLAYING CHEAP PARTISAN POLITICS WITH SERIOUS NATIONAL SECURITY MATTERS....smh undecided

Yes, admittedly there have been serious shortcomings and issues with this project (even from, the jump), but there is no need for elected representatives to reduce it to useless partisan politicking (or cheap anti-Chinese xenophobic broadsides) when earnest focus should instead be on ensuring the project is actually COMPLETED in the first instance and/or put back on track where it has fallen short or into disrepair.

The real facts are that this was NEVER a project solely for CCTVs in Abuja, but actually a NATIONWIDE internal security project (which was actually costed at $470 million), which had FIVE major components: (1) Global Operating Network Architecture (GOTA); (2) Video Surveillance Subsystem (VSS); (3) Video Conferencing System; (4) E-Policing Subsystem; and (5) Emergency Collation Response Subsystem.

The 5 components of the project are anchored on a total of 696 Base Transmission Stations spread across the 36 states and the FCT. The 1000 CCTVs for Abuja AND Lagos are a relatively small component of the project (reportedly LESS THAN 10%). The project was/is “owned” (controlled) by the Ministry of Police Affairs, and cuts across all 36 states and the FCT. It is supervised by NIGCOMSAT (the satellite company).

As of last year (precisely in July 2018), the testimony of the MD/CEO of NIGCOMSAT before the House of Reps was that the project was about 90 percent complete before the project suffered from the inability (or unwillingness) of the NIGERIAN government to complete its counterpart funding. Meanwhile, the CCTVs had been severely VANDALIZED - proving again that Nigerians are often the worst thing to happen to Nigeria!

PDP share the money.

These villagers with there chinese phones.

The money was not given to Government, the Chinese carried out the project themselves.

They installed Solar powered CCTV all over Abuja.

The real issue here is that the government failed to maintain this CCTV, the abokis helped them by looting all the installed Solar panel amd batteries.

We should b asking the PDP and APC why these infrastructure was not maintained.

Get your fact right.

We need to come to a point where we stop tying Nigeria's problems to a party or group of party members.
Party divisions are like apparels to them; they wear agbada today; tomorrow they put on suit. They all dine at the same table when they converge. Take a good look at all these politicians, are they not the same people switching parties like mobile phone networks? We have been recycling the same set of self centered and gluttonous embezzlers for decades. Our problems are the elected individuals without morals and sense of obligation to the people who put them in power.
