I plied that road last week after about 6years ago. DT road na death trap, a journey DT use to take 13hrs from Onitsha to Yola took us 3days. d vehicle spoilt severally due to d bad roads, road filled wit roadblocks of law enforcements who are keen on demanding egunje abi bribes, this country is really in a big mess, d current government is a bigger scam

No country survives without toll gates, the users of the road must be taxed directly for using it, the money derived will be used to maintain and develop the infrastructure around it, ie providing better public transportation, street lights, rest spots, public private partnership is the answer.

Port Harcourt Enugu Expressway is a Trunk ‘A’ Road linking the South-South to South-East geopolitical zones in Nigeria. It is a federal road but it is currently in a deplorable state.

From Port Harcourt, as soon as you negotiate Oyibo from Eleme Flyover, towards Aba to Enugu, the road is in a bad state. The road causes a lot of traffic jam, broken down vehicles, accidents, and sufferings to road users plying that road.
From Port Harcourt to Aba is about 30minutes from Rumuola junction (Port Harcourt)but it now takes as long as two or more hours. Where the section of that road is good is after Aba towards Ohuhu-Umuahia-Okigwe sections. Other sections on that Enugu-Aba-PH road are bad too.

Naijadriva can confirm that transporters conveying passengers from Enugu to Port Harcourt, instead of traveling straight to Port Harcourt, negotiate to Owerri and continue their journeys to Port Harcourt. This is farther and increase their travel time, security risk, and money – yes, time is money. The security risk they might face is kidnappers or robbers that operate from 8pm or so, between Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo and Omerelu (Rivers State).

We have learnt that some sections of the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt road is being fixed by the government but work seems to be very slow.

False. Most countries in Europe do not have toll gates on their roads with the exception of few major motorways/crossings YET roads across the whole country including the small towns are in good conditions.

Better stop making excuses for the government. What is tax being collected for? What is revenue from oil exports for?

Funny how we want to paint government bad. That's the aba section of that road. Op, since you traveled the length from aba to enugu, show us the stretch from aba to umuahia. Show us the stretch from umuahia to okigwe. Show us the stretch from okigwe to lokpanta. You just selectively generalised enugu/portharcourt road with just a section between aba and PH. That's a very toxic journalism. You failed to mention the very smooth portion from aba to lokpanta. Shame
We should never fail to be objective. Criticise and condemn when you ought to and encourage when the need arises. Wish I have pictures of umuahia to lokpanta section.
