Nigerians especially the West and North hated GEJ because he is from a minority tribe. They hated the fact that GEJ was making institutional progress and they fear their rubbish legacy would be desecrated so they started unnecessary attacks through occupy lagos and malicious publications by Lagos-Ibadan press. This was done by the West under pretence that GEJ refused to give them speakership even though GEJ made effort to put Mulikat but was frustrated by Tinubu who chose Tambuwal for his people. While the North intensified Bokoharam, kidnapped their own children, Sanusi went on rambling of NNPC missing $20 billion which Price Waterhouse Corper audited and found nothing substantial. NNPC is still loosing money till tomorrow, subsidy has doubled and fuel price has also doubled, we have borrowed over 10 trillion yet the roads are bad, electricity bad, security and crime has become a disaster, there is general unhappiness in the country, electoral gains made by GEJ has been reversed, elections has gone back to pre 2007 when results were written in politicians bedrooms. In all honesty, the west betrayed the South for nothing!

Okay.

But if prices of imported petroleum products must be regulated, government intervention to cushion the effects of increased prices is inevitable, hence the subsidy. Without subsidy, the prices will soar.

The only time Nigerians protested was during 2012 fuel price increase due to subsidy removal and the govt responded by bring it down to N97 and eventually N87. Nigerians protested because they knew GEJ was a democrat and wouldn't unleash the military. Bubu has been killing protesters since he came, ask the Shiites and IPOB!

Disgusting.... but what is my business with the new era of official, legalised, appropriated corruption.

Opposition rigged into the ground. Legislature rubber stamped, civil society hate speeched and dissent DSSed. No one to fight for the world reknowned docile, divided and debilitated citizenry.

When this regime is done it will take several decades to regain and semblance of development democracy was expected to deliver.

It's not even about the stealing, it's simple logic; fuel cost more than N145 per litre, so if the pump price is fixed at N145, someone (govt) has to pay the difference.

In 2014 Buhari said, "who is subsidizing who".

We are only consuming half or two-thirds of what they said we are consuming, the rest is a fraud. Take Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt out of the equation, a very few households in other states can boast of one car. Also, the majority of us only power our generators for 5hrs a day. Who is using those fuel declared?

Nigeria is a funny country though. No money for infrastructures (we want to borrow 30 billion dollars from China and increase taxes), no money to increase electric power and build brand new refineries, sometimes we hear no money to pay minimum wages.
But somehow we've been able to pay trillions of naira for oil subsidies since 2010, how ionic.
The fuel subsidy is one of the most egregious ways in which successive Nigerian governments have shovelled oil rents down a black hole of waste and corruption. We’re talking about more than $1 billion USD every single year for the last 30 years, money that could have gone into primary care and prevented hundreds of thousands of needless deaths, while leaving plenty aside to double per capita expenditure on primary education, yet what do we have to show for it all now except non-functioning refineries, rampant smuggling and eternally recurring queues?

GEJ was not making any institutional progress stop hyping rubbish, electoral reform was the only progress we had under GEJ. Corruption was order of the day even the NDDC monies never reached the Niger Deltans. Lagos state even completed more projects than the FG under GEJ, all the progress we experienced under OBJ was gradually reversed, he was weak that was why he played into the hands of the North.
