Belgore: Nigeria’ll Remain Indivisible
From Ndubuisi Francis in Abuja , 11.25.2010
A former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Alfa Modibo Belgore, yesterday declared that in spite of projections by Western interests that Nigeria will disintegrate, the country would remain indivisible, even as he argued that it serves the greater interest of the West if Nigeria’s development is impeded.

Belgore spoke in Abuja at the Geomatics Prize Award Ceremony 2010 organised by GeoQinetiq Geomatics Limited with the theme, “Geomatics and the Opportunities it Presents for Our Nation’s Development”.

To buttress his confidence on the nation’s indivisibility, the former CJN observed that some years back, some western agencies had earlier projected that the country was going to disintegrate by 2010, adding that when it became clear that this was a ruse, the date was changed to 2015.

He noted that as part of the overall attempt to dismember the country, a recent attack by a minority group in Jos Plateau State on some other groups in the state was given a religious toga and reported by the western media as an attack by Muslims on Christians.

This, he argued, was aimed at inflaming passion and raising tension across the country thereby creating a religious upheaval with the sole intent of disintegrating the country.

The erstwhile CJN said a Nigeria in chaos would feather the nest of the west as they would deploy their troops to the Niger Delta under the guise of safeguarding their investments in that region only to use the opportunity to illegally siphon oil.
Besides, he noted that a disintegrated Nigeria would create warlords across different parts of the country and offer the West an opportunity to sell their arms.

He stated that Brazil, Democratic Republic of Congo and Nigeria were countries the West would want that their development challenges are intractable because of the immense potential in those countries, which when fully harnessed, could make them elite nations of the world.

For Nigeria, Belgore admonished that the country should begin to harness her resources effectively, adding that if this happens, in a few decades, Nigeria is rubbing shoulders with the three elitist nations of the world.

He applauded the initiative and strides of GeoQinetiq in blazing the trail in geo-informatics and interest in developing younger professionals.

Alfa begore can say what he wishes as though he is talking to fellow lesser intelligent people, for those of us who live in the northern part of the country know better of the reality on ground, the typical hausa fulani man has nothing but absolute hate for anyone who isn't of his ethnic stock, but only endures those who share same religion ,as long as they submit themselves for domination.
The west has no bad intention in predicting the break up of the country but only say reality as it is. The day oil wells dry up we shall then see how much love the hausa fulani northerner has for rest of the country.lets stop deceiving ourselves.
