According to our constitution there is a president and a useless Vice President.
Because only one person can be president, this causes do-or-die politics and zoning.

Why can't we rewrite the constitution to expand the presidency to say 5 or even 12 people?
And get rid of the useless Vice President position.

That way everybody can participate in the presidency,no matter where they are from! cool

The Igbos would scatter the System. We had Okadigbo/Atiku/Obasanjo, Okadigbo scattered them.

What am proposing is a committee of equal members serve as the Presidency.

Are you saying Igbos would somehow ruin this?

Yes If we have a President, then we have a competition to dominate.

But if we had a council with multiple members, the SW and North would not be able to dominate.

Also there would be no competition since the Presidency would not belong to a single region since its a committee and not a person who is in charge.
Re: Why Can't Igbo, yoruba, hausa, etc Share Presidency by googi: 3:42pm On Dec 11, 2019
In the first place, Fulani Igbo Yoruba are not the only ethnic groups in the country.

We need a weak Center that allowes regions to rule themselves as they see fit in a federated unit.

Ethnic leadership has never done anything for their people except use them to loot the country dry.

Maybe you can point out what Fulani has done for the North with 80% of poverty in Nigeria consentrated in that region or what Ijaw President has done for Niger Delta that left his people worse off than he met them while boasting of the amount of billionaires he created.

Stop advocating for three major ethnic groups. If anything, each should be banned while minority ethnic groups take their turns.

Believe me, they will do exactly like their predecessors. Stop looking for salvation from the Center. This is what divides us.

If we had a council of 12 people instead of a president:

The north would secure no more than 7 positions IF they voted selfish.

The SW would probably secure 3 positions.

I ask u,do u think this is better than what we have now?

The Igbos can't stop playing games in human endevours.
The Hausa/Fulanis are always suspicious and like water always like to stick to their level.
The Yorubas are complacent and always fear that Collapse means total lifelessness.
Which will be more onerous to apply to amending The Constitution?
Your Plan to share The Presidency equally into three OR
Release full Powers of Policing, Resourcing and Electioneering control to the 36 States and create heathy competion for progress and growth among them?
Re: Why Can't Igbo,yoruba,hausa,etc Share Presidency by mumumugu(m): 12:52pm On Dec 13, 2019
nice idea.

political change is difficult to accept by national assembly. dem no go free.

single power of dominance is what they want. they do not want any kind of equality.

BTW, call it north, east and west region insteadbof IBO Yoruba Hausa. there are numerous tribes in each region besides those three

If they can withdraw governors pension, they can fix the presidency.

I honestly don't see the advantage of having one man be in charge of
EFCC
Military
DSS/SSS
INEC(yes he is charge of INEC)

Are Africans really this stupid?

The solution is to expand the executive to more than 1 person.

If say we had 7 people in a council, then all the major tribes would have a role in leadership.

One northern illiterate would not control
EFCC
INEC
SSS/DSS
Military

We would cease to have misfits vying to be president because of the opulence of being president!

Tinubu doesn't want to be president because he wants a better Nigeria.

Do you think Atiku/Tinubu would spend billions of Naira to sit on a council?
Re: Why Can't Igbo,yoruba,hausa,etc Share Presidency by orunto27: 12:55pm On Dec 14, 2019
The solution, to expanding the executive to more than one person at the Head, is to decentralise the jobs needed to be urgently and necessarily carried out, to the 36 States of the Federation.
You don't build MAN FOR JOBS BUT BUILD JOBS FOR MAN
Our northern, whether illiterate or not, MAN, is built to control
EFCC
INEC
SSS/DSS
Military etc.

He enjoys the opulence of being president, but he cannot cope.

Decentralise these JOBS TO THE 36 STATES AND YOU WILL HAVE:-
INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY,
HEALTHY COMPETITIVENESS AND
RAPID GROWTH ALL OVER THE STATES OF THE FEDERATION.

I have just read somewhere on this Nairaland,

"THE NORTHERN ELDERS POSITION PAPERS ON DECENTRALISATION, REGIONISATION AND CONSTITUTIONAL AUTONOMY FOR THE STATES OF THE FEDERATION".

THAT PIECE IS EXCELLENT TO BE ADOPTED NOW, BY NASS, AS THE FRAMEWORK OF OUR NIGERIA'S CONSTITUTION.

This Op is very funny you forget the kind of people that go into politics, people that want to rule others

This kind of thing will never work some people will at least want all power for themselves (nothing wrong there just competition)

There's always a monarch in every oligarchy

This is exactly why we should get rid of Presidency and Governors.
It creates Do or Die politics and attracts the wrong people.

Ppl like Buhari/Atiku/Tinubu would not be spending billions and creating misery if there was a council instead of a President.

With a council there is no fame/power/wealth.

If you did this then doesn't Nigeria ceases to be a Federation?
And what makes you think the governors of those states won't be just as bad as the president?

Creating a council is easier than your solution,ALLwe are doing is saying:
No More President/VP

Instead now we have 12 Presidents who will share equal role, power and responsibility.

With your Idea we are creating 36 Countries with their own corrupt , malevolent , immoral do or die Governors. kiss

Regional government was better for nigeria.
But the igbo thought they were smarter than other nigerians, then they turned it to this federal system.

Your proposal to expand Presidency is fine, it's creative but everyone in response that supports the idea are d0mmies.

What do you hope to achieve by expanding titles? You want to pacify those who feel left out, correct? Just return the country to where it was in 1957 or even 1963, and everyone will be ok.

OP because you feel that the Igbos would really find it so difficult to get any presidency, you now want an expanded presidency?
Have you heard of "constitutional amendment" and the processes you must got through?
If you don't know, try to read it up
