Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Monday ordered the closure of gas retail shops within residential and high-risk areas with immediate effect. He announced the decision after inspecting the scene of a fatal gas explosion that occurred on Saturday leaving six people dead. Samuel Aruwan Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs who disclosed this in a statement said with that directive, all retail gas refill shops operating in the said areas are to shut down. “Similarly, ministries and agencies concerned with public safety have also been directed to review high risk businesses in residential areas and come up with a relocation plan with immediate effect,” he said. Nigerian leaders are never proactive, it's when a disaster happens that they become reactive.. Doesn't he know the risk associated with selling gas in a residential area before now? Short man devil seeking attention. |
