You want regional security (Amotekun) but smartly avoiding constitutional review. That's been mischievous and not straightforward.

However, The Nation gathered that some key players in the presidency interpreted the coming of Operation Amotekun as part of the ploy to introduce regional politics through the backdoor
.
[b]The President’s strategists rate the operation as a violation of Sections 2, 17 and 45 of the Second Schedule to the 1999 Constitution.

No provision for regional security arrangement in the 1999 Constitution or any law Alleged backdoor approach to reintroduce regional autonomy/ government structure Defence, Police and Security architecture on the Exclusive List in sections 2, 17 and 45 of the Second Schedule to the 1999 Constitution.

“Since 1967, when 12 states were created, the nation’s regional structure has been dismantled. Those in government and security chiefs see politics behind Operation Amotekun than security concerns.
“The governors are aware that there are 67 items on the Exclusive Legislative List and they should have pushed for constitutional amendment to move Policing to the Concurrent Legislative List or for the recognition of Neighbourhood Watch.

Commenting on the South-West security outfit codenamed "Operation Amotekun”, Dingyadi said, "The intentions of the Southwest governors are good. However, some people have expressed fears about the regional security force.
”Security is an exclusive responsibility of the Federal Government being supported at times by state governments and other organisations.

Mohammed, who spoke exclusively to Vanguard, pointed out that those behind the formation of the armed group were against the interest of Nigeria and should be made to face the full weight of the law.
According to him no section of the Nigerian constitution makes provision for either state or regional police, adding that the governors have no authority whatsoever to raise such an illegal army.

Now tell how Nigerians reason sometimes. These people are just attacking with the constitution and you are busy shouting and crying foul when you know how to tackle the same problem.

South west leaders should send their senators and representatives on an assignment at the national assembly on constitutional review to accommodate regional security.

But if they keep shouting Hisbah and they need something like that then Amotekun should be disbanded and security watch like Hisbah should be set up in each state independent of the order and how each state government and her assembly wants it to run.

There are issues that needs to be followed head on the way it arrived that's why you have senators and representatives members who can rally others to put the constitution in order.

The summary of the whole thing, according to the northern elite, is below:

According to him no section of the Nigerian constitution makes provision for either state or regional police, adding that the governors have no authority whatsoever to raise such an illegal army.

The north believed that 'Amotekun' or any other security outfit in the south is a pseudo-military force than will be used in any future war against the oppressive north who believed that allah used the British to gift the south to them.

Then let the south face them head on. There are room for constitutional review. let the senators and representatives members rally others who wants same constitutional review and set the national assembly on fire for the right thing to be done.

When the pressure from every sector is high then there are bound to be light at the end of the tunnel.

You know the problem (Constitution) and you avoiding it when same people are standing on it.

This will show the SW senators and representatives who really supports the Amotekun of a thing and not just the masses shouting when the right persons to talk are quiet.

It is not giving any sleepless night because the security network will fail but this also exposes SW for who they are.

All the restructuring they are shouting na for mouth.

The real matter for that done come and shows the exact restructuring but your Governors and senators plus reps are playing smart and avoiding the constitution.

As Malami said trying to create regional security through backdoor.

You need regional force but same you guys are avoiding constitutional review.

I will support the FG and the administration of president Mohammed buhari until the remains of Amotekun is deposited in dustbin of history.

As a pure Democrat, likewise buhari....I will never support any undemocratic actions that undermines the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria

Ok oga demo-rat you don't need to keep creating thread to show how demo-rat you are, all you need to do is call press like the northern demo-rat leaders are doing and show them how demo-rat you are.

All of them are Yorubas.

They are many here.

Don't blame entirely, they don't just like Nigeria to break. They are doing everything in their power for one Nigeria.

You want Biafra. Has any of your senators done anything about it?

Sw needs no constitutional review to protect its people. If the northerners can have their own security outfits then nothing stops the sw. amotekun is now a bone in their neck. They either disband hisbah and civilian jtf or amotekun stays. Banning only amotekun can never happen.

Amotekun is not any bone on the neck. They can be decimated anyday.

If SW needs no constitutional review then let each SW state develop their own Amotekun independent of the other and all alone in their state like Hisbah...that's all

I support Amotekun on state basis but on regional I can only support it through constitutional amendment to accommodate such.
