Lt. Macaulay Lamurde was tried and executed on 13 September 1968 by Colonel Benjamin Adekunle for the murder of a young Igbo civilian.

The 23-year old Lamurde and his platoon had seized a young Igbo boy who was hiding in the bush. When questioned, the prisoner, wearing only shorts, denied that he was a Biafran soldier; he was looking for his parents.

Lamurde shot the bound prisoner three times. Dying in war is too common to make this death seem extraordinary, except for one thing: a British television team had filmed the murder. Source: Zeit.De

Scorpion was a hero!

He demanded justice for the poor Ibo civilian, plus he was a minor.

Ibos should be proud of Benjamin Adekunle. May his soul rest in peace!

This might be the real reason the northern government that was in power after the war sacked Adekunle and exiled him to abroad where he died and was forgotten.

They in the north regard Adekunle as a serial murderer who enjoyed killing civilians.

Distortion and framing of names is not a common thing.

At a time when we the concerned Nigerians are trying to build bridges across boards even to west , they never fail to disappoint by cooking up stories of no verifiable standard....The news.

#The news is another express news set up to further the known agenda of over many years.

Who doesn't know Adekunle and his ending. Same Adekunle automatically acting in favor if same people he loots to kill.

There is what we called Evil of no return ...when you spread propaganda and falsehood so much, u become so attached to it that truth seems like s mole-hills to you.

Well, Almost heaven......country roads... Ogbomosho..... can't verify if he reached.

Obasanjo also executed many Nigerian soldiers, he usually leads from the front and if Obasanjo ever catches you running off or not shooting at the enemy he would personally kill you

They in the north regard Adekunle as a serial murderer who enjoyed killing civilians.

He was put in charge of the Lagos ports after the war, and remained in the Army till his retirement in 1974.(for a scandal involving hemp, see here. The source also points out that he was removed from heading 3rd Marine Commando due to the fall of Owerri to Biafran troops...)

He did have rivals in the army, and yes, tribalism, but he was not exiled abroad. He lived in Nigeria, and even gave interviews on the war, and national issues to the media (I first heard about Adekunle when he gave an interview to the now defunct National Concord in the 1990's).

Lies!!

Adekunle was a war criminal that specialized in killing civilians.

He was later arrested by Obasanjo for the Asaba massacre.

Adekunle was tried on the grounds that he could not kill a single biafran soldier but specialized in killing civilians.

Adekunle was stopped at Asaba while he tried to cross into onitsha which was his first war encounter and was dealt a huge blow.

Adekunle was dishonorably discharged and left to rot away.

Even at his death, no Nigerian leader/representative attended the war criminal’s burial.

Don’t distort the truth to support your narratives.

As far as we know...Adekune was not involved in the caputre of Asaba, and the massacare thereof ( 2 Division was involved in Asaba, while Adekunle's divison was involved in taking parts of the Midwest...before being ordered to Bonny and environs.

According to the Wikipedia article on the Asaba Massacare

I
brahim B. Haruna has sometimes been named as the officer who ordered the massacre, following a report of his testimony to the Nigerian Human Rights Violations Investigations Commission, known as the Oputa Panel.[1] This article quoted him as claiming responsibility (as the commanding officer) and having no apology for the atrocity. However, Haruna was not present in Asaba in 1967. He replaced Murtala Muhammed as C.O. of the Second Division in spring 1968. While there are no eye-witness reports of Muhammed ordering the killings, he was the Commander in the field, and thus must bear responsibility. SOURCE

Obasanjo releived Adekunle of his command at 3rd Marine Commando in 1969...after Owerri fell to Biafran forces. Adekunle was reassigned to a training post, then to run the Lagos Ports. As Dawodu dot com puts it

Following the disaster at Owerri and near-mutiny among his troops, he was recalled to Lagos in May 1969, promoted substantive Colonel and appointed Director of Training and Planning at the SHQ, a position he held until the end of the war. He was subsequently made the Military Commandant of the Port Decongestion Task Force. He was destined never to command troops again.

Benjamin Adekunle was promoted Brigadier in 1972. On August 20th, 1974, along with Brigadier Sotomi, he was compulsorily retired from the Army following an international hemp trafficking scandal involving a businesswoman called Ms. Iyabo Olorunkoya.

Go and read the account of those that fought alongside Adekunle in the 3rd marine commando. He never executed any captured Biafran soldier not to talk of civilians. He fed and treated wounded Biafran soldiers and gave them the opportunity to either join the federal forces or return to Biafran camp.

The interviews he granted to media in Lagos was far different from the reality at the war front. In war time, commanding generals usually employ propaganda in the media to make themselves look strong and put fear in the minds of their opponents. The interview you referenced was just war time propaganda.

Obasanjo didn’t lead any battle from the front. In fact, Alain Akinrinade didn’t even inform him before leading his boys to execute operation pincer2 to capture Uli Ihiala and ended the war. Obasanjo only took the glory as the commander.

Adekunle was a well known war criminal and serial murderer.. Even his comrades in vandalism cringed at his mindless crimes against humanity..

Reason he was booted off and left to rot..

That said, the only time federal soldiers were executed by their commanders was when running away from their biafran adversaries became too rampant and gravely tilting the war outcome.. The soldiers would deliberately shoot or cut themselves and claim they were ambushed so that they can be laid off the front lines.. A few soldiers were shot,to instill fear on other pretenders..

Obasanjo that couldn’t even locate Uli after the war ended. He lost his way trying to find the place and he even admitted to it in his own book.

Funny enough, it was this same Alani Akinrinade that dragged Obasanjo to the war front. He suggested him to both Gowon and Isama. Baba was hiding somewhere in Ibadan when Akinrinade took Isama to his house and pleaded with him to come and take over the command of 3rd marine commando.

Obsanjo was the GOC in Ibadan, and his main intrest spike when wole Soyinka (who both belonged to an elite group back in ibadan) came to ibadan and met at somewhere around Sango - UI- Samonda axis notify him that Ojukwu was planing to invade SouthWest enroute Lagos, and since most of Adekunle's captured territory were being recaptured back by Ojukwu troops, it was pertinent for Gowon to use Obasanjo's battalion to pass through other axis to blow up a strategic entry bridge to linking youruba land, after succes of this activity, Obasanjo was sent to lead the commando unit , the person who notified Wole Soyinka was Ojukwu's yoruba friend who was against Gowon and was serving time at an eastern prison before Ojukwu released him to fight for them, he was subsequently killed by Ojukwu for linking this intel.. Obasanjo's various victory in recapturing territories back where written by many authors and if not for some of Obasanjos victory Gowon had wanted to move out of lagos and meet Ojukwu's men for a second meeting, infact the meeting was slated for October with Ojukwus AChief Justice and other ministers already heading to the venue in either congo or one east african country

you do understand Obasanjo is a military engineer just like Buhari is a transport and logistic specialist and this men were trained in the best military college in UK, in case you also dont know this about Obasanjo, has a federal commissioner of works he built many standard roads, on of them being the current west african road from lagos to benin and the rest of west africa

kindly read about obasanjo's victory, how hs team dislodged Ojukwus macinery and capture his makeshift refinery in portharcourt subsequently weakening ojukwus men hence their retreat

Typical of Yoruba history revisionists, you want to concoct lies to try and rehabilitate the image of an animalistic war criminal. You can't rewrite history, it's on record that Benjamin Adekunle was a barbaric animal whose sanity should be questioned. If he did the same things he did then in this present time, he will be facing the international war crimes tribunal at the Hague right now. Funny thing is that the coward spent his last days lamenting about being abandoned by Nigeria, I say he paid the price for his stupidity.

Whether The Black Scorpion massacre Biafrans (civilians) or not isn't reason why our brothers from far East are raising eyebrows. The main reason (his offence) is that, he's a Yoruba man and they hate ANYTHING Yoruba. Meanwhile, Gowon is thier friend, someone that ordered the massacre of over 2million Biafrans.
Let's check from inception of this fourth republic, even third republic, they've NEVER voted Yorubas in their States but they can lie that Yorubas are against the South. Very cunning people. The REAL COWARD, THE REAL HAUSA SLAVES. Only state like Ebonyi which they regards as Fake voted Abiola then.
