Jean Karoubi, the Fortis Society’s founder, was hired by Chuck Feeney upon his graduation. Chuck became his mentor and highly influenced him to find his own path to philanthropy.

Jean came from a very modest origin; he was revolted by the injustice he witnessed but recognized his limited ability to create meaningful change on his own. He had the idea to maximize his philanthropic impact by channeling his donations toward the Fortis Society. Through the Fortis Society, many of the most impressive individuals from diverse backgrounds have the potential to create an impact bigger than Jean could have accomplished on its own.

The Fortis Society was launched in 2018, formed by highly successful young professionals from humble backgrounds. It was created to promote collaboration and support among professionals around the world, with the ultimate goal of propelling its Members toward increasingly higher levels of success, so that they magnify their positive impact on the world. The resources, opportunities, networks, and insights shared among Members are the driving force that magnifies the positive impact of each individual Member.
