COVID-19: Nigerian Breweries Plc Announces ₦600 Million Support by Ravon: 8:54am On Apr 22, 2020
Nigeria’s foremost brewer, Nigerian Breweries Plc has announced a donation of six Hundred Million Naira (N600,000,000.00) to the Federal and some state governments, as part of efforts to support the fight against COVID -19.

This was stated in a letter to Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Federal Government and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

The Company’s Managing Director, Mr Jordi Borrut Bel confirmed that the N600 million donation comprises of the following:

1. A N250 million cash donation to the Federal Government, through the Coalition Against COVID-19 (CA-COVID), the private sector-led special intervention fund managed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN);

2. N250 million cash donation to 7 State Governments’ Task Force Against COVID-19. Lagos and Ogun States will receive the sum of One Hundred Million Naira (N100m) and Fifty Million Naira (N50M) respectively being COVID-19 frontline states while five other states of Kaduna, Oyo, Enugu, Abia and Imo will get N20M each.

3. N100 million worth of relief materials comprising:

- Provision of 5 double-cabin vehicles for use by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in Abuja, Lagos, Ogun and Kaduna States. This is to help meet their critical operational needs, especially contact tracing and movement of materials/personnel to isolation and treatment centres. The cost of fuel, maintenance and driver’s salaries will also be covered by Nigerian Breweries.

- Personal Protective Equipment such as face masks, 500 gowns and 141,000 units of hand sanitizers for nationwide distribution to our key states.

- Supply of malt, energy and soft drinks to the various COVID-19 NCDC centres nationwide. This will be done over a period to ensure steady support and to meet the nourishment needs of the Centres during the crisis.

Jordi Bel stressed that the company has already taken various steps to ensure that it continues to protect the jobs of its 3000 employees while supporting its vendors/suppliers during this difficult period. He added that these contributions are in line with the company’s belief that public-private partnership is essential to overcome the threat of the COVID-19 virus.

Cheque presentations have already been made to the Ogun and Lagos State governments with other states to receive their donations in the coming days.

The parent company of Nigerian Breweries, the HEINEKEN Company had previously donated 15 Million Euros to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Society to support their relief efforts towards the most vulnerable people and communities affected by COVID -19 especially those in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Additionally, the Heineken Africa Foundation has decided to replace its regular grants and projects this year with a plan to spend up to 5 million euros in partnership with various NGOs in Africa to significantly upscale and accelerate its WASH program, which focuses on providing access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

Any money given to the politicians in the name of fighting coronavirus is not donated on behalf of the country because we have a history of embezzlement by politicians.

Enuf donating to the govt pocket.... Now I see where all this business mind loyalty is.

While we r creating and stabilizing brand loyalty to their products they r busy Doin that to our govt knowing well whT will happen to those money.

It's time Nigerians start making some drastic decisions.
Again if after this Coronavirus pandemic, we didn't learn anything, our stand befor the govt we elected. Then it's over for us. Just imagine these people sharing one derica of rice and during election we will sit under the sun to vote.

Speaking of election. It takes these people few mins to dig hand into govt pocket to share to citizens to buy vote but ur survival is not their concern afterwards. If u still go out there to vote for anyone currently in power OGUN WILL DO JUSTICE TO YOU. cuz it will be obvious you are one of the problem of this country.

I weep for Nigeria

Am disappointed if this is true. You didn't donate to your customers who made you rather you made the government your top priority. I hope hope reasonable Nigerians would be wise not to buy their products next time

For those who think science is greater than God, you can see what ordinary virus is doing?

They say there are other 50 deadlier viruses that have not jumped on humans yet.... imagine 5 of these coming at once?

We have conquered the space, tamed animals but our society stinks of violence, killings, sexual perversion etc.

Sodom and Gomorah did not do as much as we have done.

Those in the days of Noah were saints compared to this present world.

We deserve what is happening to us and much more.

I don't need to mince words here....God is angry with the world. He is in charge and has decided to shut everyone down.

Change your ways, accept Jesus and live a holy life.

Jesus will save you from sin and give you eternal life.

First, I do not support such monies being donated to any govt. But if you must donate, no dime should be give to some northern states that destroy alcohol.

You don't want your citizens to drink alcohol, please don't take money from alcohol.

All these audio donations to gain govt favour in return. If you want to help the masses buy food and donate directly to the masses and not through the useless govt.

And NB should take note not to send any donations to people who destroy their products up north in the name of sharia law. Some people cannot be using their money to drink beer in the south while NB will use the money to donate to people who destroy their products up north.
