She insinuates that Nigerians want giveaways from the government when we didn’t work for it as a nation

What’s your reaction?

I agree with her to a very large extent however, it should be seen as a wake up call and not mockery.

she is absolutely RIGHT.... the majority of people dont even pay taxes, yet they want the same services that people in Europe/US get when "they" pay 10s of thousand of $$$ per year in taxes. since Nigerians love to put religion before anything, why should they change now?! they should ask their fraudsters in robe for divine help na!

- some people were even complaining that the US gave its citizens a $1200 cheque while they received nothing in Nigeria, lol!
- some people were even complaining that dudes in Europe/Canada were receiving cheques while they received nothing in Nigeria, lol!

America actually have a lot of churches.

They pay tithes and pay taxes too.

Again, I don't know how church buildings are your problems. There are lots of buildings out there used for beer parlour and club houses, why are you not bothered about them?

Gbam that's it. Infact, the government should be distributing holy communion, Bible, olive oil, holy water, kettles, Koran, juju and so on as palliatives depending on our various religious faith.

She is perfectly right.

In the 1970s there were thousands of mission schools that ordinary Nigerians could attend, but now despite the tithing and other spritual sacrifice ordinary Nigerians cannot afford the mission varsities.

Many churches bought industrial warehouses all over the big cities as worship centres. Industries were shut down, workers laid off, technology lost, services withdrawn and where possible relocated to neighbouring countries. While we boast of spirituality (faith without work), others advanced industrial drive to boost their economy.

The religious leaders most of whom never attended University or graduated at the bottom of their classes now call the shots, control human resources (including postgraduates) even when they don't have good command of simple English grammar.

We cannot blame the government here. Yet, these religious organisations are neither accountable to the government nor to their members. The leaders are the chair/CEO.

We need to retrace our steps.

She said it right.

Those who are paying tithe in Nigeria are far more above those who are paying tax

Sheepish will definitely disagree with this.. cool

Churches should do giveaways then since our Taxes go to the Churches. So no surprise then that some Church leaders in Nigeria have more private jets than several world leaders including the Presidents of USA and Russia. They should therefore do giveaways that government couldn't do.

The way people talk about taxes in Nigeria sef undecided

For everyone who works in a structured organization, taxes are deducted before salary.

For others who make supplies to companies, taxes are withheld before they're paid for these contracts.

The market woman who sells along d road in those dirty markets have to pay to task force, who say they're working on behalf of govt.

The taxi driver pays d agberos, also reps of govt.

In one way or d other, we all pay taxes. That the govt is not structured to ensure this money gets into d system shouldn't be d fault of the common man. Afterall ds same govt drills d natural resources in our lands and profit from it, how has d common man benefited from d common wealth?

You think d oyibos pay taxes outta sheer decency? Far from it. They do cos taxes cannot be evaded and that's cos a system is in place. Copy same in naija and c how everyone becomes a law abiding citizen.

In d meantime, Nigeria dey smell abeg. Yuck!!!

Tax or no tax, d people deserve palliatives from government

Any citizen that goes by this mode of reasoning is highly stupid.
We are basically taxed for everything we purchase in Nigeria, from food stuffs to bills be it light or water bill, we are taxed just to send text messages or make calls, our salaries are taxed, our factories are taxed.
Any person that comes to you and says Nigerians are not taxed is just overly stupid.

I guess Namibia, Rwanda, Uganda, Ghana that are taking better care of their citizens don't pay tithes.

Nigeria is a failed state with failed citizens conditioned to suffering.

Nonsense

Kinda right but religion has nothing to do with how great or poor a country is
If u say we spend most of our money paying tithe and building chrurches
then what of places like Saudi Arabia, they are very religious yet they are doing well for themselves.

That's not true. We also pay tax in Nigeria but the problem is what do government do with it.

In those developed nation their citizens actually see what their government do with their tax money if not, they won't be responsive in paying tax.

Where does Lekki toll money go to

Say 40 cars pass every minute, that's N8,000 per minute

per hour, that's N480,000

say 20 hours a day, that's about 10 million per day.

multiply by 30 days, that's about N300,000,000 per month.

As VAT there are other taxes/levies imposed on Nigerians. The food vendors, bike riders and other artisans pay taxes. Can you equate tax benefit with the amount been paid?

Typical dumb Buharist always looking for a way to defend their master's incompetence and wickedness. Nigerians in the formal sector pay tax, those in the informal sector pay several forms of taxes.
