2. The cost of testing a patient ranges between N40,000 and N50,000. It is free for patients and Government bears the cost. Efforts are on to get the cost subsidised through Insurance or donations by aid partners.

How?

The best for the world at large is to make a very cheap test kit that everyone can buy in pharmacy and do the test on their own.
Anyone that is +ve will know how to protect others from contracting it by practicing self Isolation and use of nose mask.

50k per test, no wonder Covid 19 donations is no where to be found grin grin

These guys need to explain why it cost so much. From reports, most of the lab equipments were donated by private individuals.

Is it collecting the swab with kits still donated? I don't get it.

Imagine "The cost of testing a patient ranges between N40,000 and N50,000"

O boy see format
Which means about seven hundred million don go down for just testing in Lagos not to talk of the entire nation

Don't mind them. It has jumped from N10,000 to N50,000. When most of the lab equipments and kits were donated by private sector organisations. So where is the cost coming from.

No wonder the NCDC monopolised testing. Even when private organisations donate equipments, NCDC takes over ownership and charge N50,000 for the tests.

Crooks.

Doing what? How many millions of people are in Lagos, to date, only N16,000 tested. How we keep praising mediocrity beats my imagination.

Don’t frget that there was no structure before the pandemic hit. Nigerian government have under funded the health sector for years, that’s why you see even basic things take eternity to put together. Hopefully they would change after this experience

There is no need to disseminate fear any more.

Underfunding has nothing to do with securing PCR Machines and test kits. If Private organisations can get it, nothing stops the Lagos Government after receiving billions from medical grant from FG, Allocations and donations to source and carry out aggressive testing.

They are just not serious and interested in Stealing money.

If you calculate it with 45k for each text, that will give you 720,000,000 just for 16,000 text.
So if they text 100,000 people, that should be like 4billion plus.
Our politicians are worst than devil.

That is a bloody lie. I will never be close to that in any way. God forbid for me to want money over people's dead bodies.

I reject that kind of money over and over again.

Thats why you see those imaginery numbers of people that have covid 19. they say 209 yesterday,304 today and 182 tomorrow. Then you will hear 16 have been cured and sent back to society. so each name is worth 50k oboy this wan pass yankee tax scam.No picture or Id needed so you people now see that in this country we really need help. We cant give people at least 10k to soften the financial effects of covid 19 but we can charge them 50k to test for covid 19. See what i said ooo test for 50k not cure for 50k.

You're not so smart. A patient doesn't need to be positive before they take the 50k per head. They can just print some names and claim they test negative and there will be no one to question them.

So when they say a case is positive, it's likely to be really positive.

Generally, your comment portrays an ignorant person with a smartphone.

As in eh.

NCDC did not buy test kits. NCDC did not buy PCR machines. Yet they are telling us the tests cost N50,000. Is it the putting of the swabs in the machine that increased the cost?
