Caveat: My opinion isn't cast in stone. And I tried to be as objective as I can as a "young man."

Rape is a graveous crime. It compares best to murder because like death, the effect(s) can never be undone.
Absolutely no woman (girl) deserves to be raped by any man.

But then, it's necessary to understand that "men don't rape women because they are men and women are women."

Rape doesn't explicitly stem from the urge to "man over a woman."

RATHER it stems from the societal idealization of a woman as a sexual gratification object.

From the songs we listen to, the movies we see, the contents we read on social media to almost every thing our day-to-day lives revolve around, classify womanhood through the prism of "sex."
Ukwu, Twerk, Bumbum, Slay Queen, Olosho, are just few of the words that have been normalized to objectify women.

Alas! Even the "objects" have been wired to accept being objectified, and live within the paremeter of being seen as "objects."

You see women snapping pictures to magnify their bum and display their boobs just to be validated by the same society that objectified them.

And the worst thing? Men are wired by the same society to see these "objects" as trophies that are reserved only for the "fittest," "wealthiest" and "smartest"

So in retrospect, we have a society that expects men to be "dogs" and women to be "objects."

And when some "objects" whether through certain circumstances or personal reflections refuse to be "objectified," some "dogs" in the euphoria of winning an extra trophy resort to violence in the form of rape to force the object into submission subservience.

So we have a case of a man preferring "the euphoria of winning an extra trophy" forcefully to giving in to "fair play" that the society seemingly forget to include in the rules guiding the game‍♂

In short, rape may never go away because similar to money rituals, yahoo yahoo, armed robbery, etc (spurred by the elevation of "get rich or die trying" mindset in our society) it has become a conscious part of our society.

So while we wish the menace away, it's necessary we go back to the basics and reprogram our societal standards.

Don't expect the same Wizkid, Tiwa Savage and Davido that objectified you in their songs to lead the change.

As a woman, there's a need to take it upon yourself to resist the societal attempt to objectify yourself. Your "womanness" is not by how good you conform to the stupid societal standard of you being an object. You're a woman and that alone validates your "womanness"

And as a man, you need to understand that the idea of being "a dog who respects no fair play in the game" only puts you in the same pedestal as animals. Your real trophy will come from the number of women you choose to treat strictly as "women" and not "objects" like the society implores you to do. You're a man not a dog!

Rapists are criminals and should be treated as such. SAY NO RAPE!

You are a rape apologist.

Na because you dey Nigeria.

Go and touch a naked girl that didn't give you permission to touch her abroad, let's see if you won't land in jail.

You guys act like a woman can not decide what to do with her body, it is her body not yours, she is not your property.

She can decide to have sex with you according to her desire and not by force because you bought rice for her.

Most of you guys don't understand consent, you don't understand, you are not entitled to sex, it is not your right or decision, that is why many of you Nigerian men end up in prison for rape abroad.

A woman is an individual with brain that thinks not your property.

Who’s getting tired of all this accusations?

In Nigeria people like to talk rather than act, if they Rape you act, report immediately...

Why on earth would you be saying I was feeling ashamed and guilty? Those feeling should be what the rapist would feel not you.

Don’t you know that when you keep quiet you encourage such person do it more cause he/she believes all their victims too would keep quiet?

Act don’t just come under another person umbrella and try to outshine.

OH yeah? A rape apologist? Don't be silly madam. Where in the post did I talk about all the gibberish you wrote? Because I m in Nigeria like really? Do you know the number of rape cases recorded every year in the U. S.? You want everyone to lash on to the trend and say no to rape, but you resist attempt to take on the issue head on? Is that not hypocrisy? Has the "SAY NO TO RAPE" trend stopped rape cases? I've sisters, and female friends and I can't even wrap my head around any of them being groped not to talk of being raped. The article was meant to address the root problem. You don't wish a problem away, you tackle it head on. But if you have issues with comprehension, please leave me out of your trauma.

You are the one that lack comprehension.

Didn't you write that because women objectify themselves that is why men rape women?

My question, are women not the owners of their body?

If they objectify their bodies, did they say touch me?

You don't understand consent.

If I naked myself on the street, even though i know, it will draw attention, did I tell you that you can touch my breast, isn't it only when I give you the command before you can do that.

Please show me the part of the writeup that said women objectify themselves? English is certainly not your strong point.

And you're being irrational if you don't understand that criminals don't need consent or approval to proceed with a crime.

Rrad the post well he is not supporting rapists he is saying the excalated case of rape is cause of our lack of morals everything is sex themed in this present generation, and even in the US their rape cases yearly are more than Nigeria but they have stricter laws, but it dosent stop rape there, see north korea they have little to no rape cases there cause of their morals
In north korea no content higher than pg 13 is allowed such as violence, pornography, movies like game of thrones, sex themed media post, having sex without getting married is a huge offence with up to a death penality, when i read the article almost all women there have not even seen a pregnancy slip, there is no sex in their lives, so they have zero rape cases, cause its what children watch they grow up to do.

If Nigeria had morals like north korea there would be no rape cases,in the past rape cases were little to none cause there was no ponography or sexual content people got married at a mature age.
He mentioned it but didn't explain at all.

Men werent born rapists, Men werent born killers but our low morals caused this, allowing all sorts of things into our lives.

This is the root cause, we should target. And strict laws might help but not stop it. Us has laws against the sligthest case of sexual harassment with yrs ranging from 12months(molestation) to about 30 yrs(rape) to life imprisonment if murder is involved, but they still have high rape cases

Is it lack of morals or lack of self control.

Who always ask for sex from a woman before giving her a job.

Who always invite a woman to a hotel room before signing contract.

Who send money to a girl and waiting for sex in return.

Your hypothesis is pure sophistry; it can easily be argued against and dismantled by a six year old. All men and women must take responsibility for their actions. If you rape a person, you ought to be held accountable whether your victim objectified himself/herself or not. No matter how a person dresses or sexually objectify himself/herself, the decision to rape is still a conscious choice. By the way, how a people dress is their right, and it is never an excuse to rape.

You don't understand bro. I never asked perpetrators not to take responsibility,. It seemed you rushed through the content purely at the back of your own sentiments. I am saying that just like every other crime, you, theres a rape culture that is a consequence of societal objectification of women. Most thieves steal because they want to get rich and meet up with the societal standard of "get rich or die trying." Crime isn't a natural thing, it's a thing of the mind most times fueled by societal factors.
