Both statement of assumptions, are just that; assumptions. There is no truth to either. The moon is a creation, which the crescent is only a phase. The star is also a creation. In reality the crescent and star was a symbol of the Othoman Kalifah of Turkey. It is like a flag, if you will of that Kalifah. It has no significance to Islam, except that a kalifah, as mentioned, above adopted it as his own identification of his ruling dynasty. Muslim worships the Lord and Creator of the Moon, the Star, the Sun, etc, . . . . , the Man, etc, everything seen and unseen. |

Surah 41 37. And of His Signs are the night and the day and the sun and the moon. Worship not the sun nor the moon; but Worship Allah Who created them, if it is in truth Him whom ye worship. |
