It is my delight to inform my fellow Nigerians that our economy grew by 8.29% during the last quarter of 2010 mostly due to the modest increase in power supply (which this administration is working hard to further improve) and a substantial growth in the agricultural sector. This is good but I know we can do better and with our joint efforts a double digit growth is within reach this quarter. GEJ |

I hear dangote is even paying PHCN transmission people bribe to cut their customer's lights off during the day, when he wants to run his industries in Lagos. Surely GEJ is not unaware of this? Does this also contribute to the 4000 mgw? Am sure dangote does not pay kobo in Light bills. GEJ needs to stop his propaganda and start acting. He needs to know what is going on in the power industry. |

At 8.29% GDP . Nigeria is the third fastest growing large economy in the world after china and india.(iam not talking about minor economies like angola or guinea where gdp growth is more due to small base) Since oil accounts for only 17 %of gdp in nigeria. The non oil gdp (like manufacturing, agriculture, services) account for 83% of economy. This is plain silly how can a country which generate 4000MW claim to be the 3 rd fastest growing economy. For comparision sake China builds a coal power power plant EVERY WEEK worth 500mw India builds a power plant in 3 weeks worth 500mw NIGERIA builds a power plant coal or gas based once in 3 years worth 180 mw |

Nsiman: U R THE ONE WHO IS FOOLING YOURSELF IN FACT CHINA BUILDS TWO POWER PLANTS A WEEK China is now building about two power stations every week, the top climate change official at the UK Foreign Office, John Ashton, has said. He said there was no point blaming China for rising global CO2 emissions. Rich nations had to set an example of low-carbon development for China to follow, Mr Ashton told the BBC. His statement came as a new report suggested that China may have already become the world's biggest polluter - much earlier than expected. The Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency said China's CO2 emissions had risen by 9% last year, compared with 1.4% in the US. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/6769743.stm |

Thank you so much Ekongking for putting a sock in the mouth of arrogant sycophancy (celebrating 180MW after taking years as if Nigeria is a small local government area. SMH). The truth must be told. If Jonathan has been this callous the months before an election, imagine how bad things will get if he wins and no longer needs votes of nigerians. |

JONATHAN ODECHUKWU Damage control needed fast |
Re: More Lies From The Gej Administration by Beaf: 12:14am On Feb 10, 2011 |
EKONGKING: Yes, Nigeria is the 3rd fastest growing economy in the World; but 3rd fastest growing does not mean 3rd biggest. China can build new power plants every week, because they are the second biggest (and most liquid) economy. Nigeria's economy is much smaller. |

blacksta: Dude, you're making a fool of yourself again. Nigeria's growth figures are beyond contest. Fact. . . .Anyways, you are free to entertain yourself and other airy minded folk with your beer palour arguments. What backing do you have for the daft conclusions you made in your article? None? Hehe! |
Re: More Lies From The Gej Administration by blacksta(m): 12:38am On Feb 10, 2011 |
Beaf: No doubt that the growth figures are beyond contest - but the lie from GEJ is to attest those growth figures to stable electricity in the last quarter of 2010 what stable electricity i ask ? prior to sept to Dec 2010 power generation was fluctuating between 2600 mw to about 3000mw the growth mentioned happened because of reliance on generators and not PHCN |
Re: More Lies From The Gej Administration by Beaf: 12:47am On Feb 10, 2011 |
blacksta: What is your proof that the growth figures are not to do with electricity? None? Who told you the rubbish you're spilling, was it your mai guard? . . .The rumour mongering pattern keeps repeating! Proof! Proof sir is what we need! |
