Ideybego:
Power generation in the country has been hovering between 3,000 megawatts and 4,500MW in the past few years, despite the privatisation of the sector in 2013.

Don't worry in the words of Ajuleri, you will get 21,000 MW by 2022.......................Just two years more.............

Half information. The article is making it look like we are some big brother who is sacrificing for his little ones lol. Some of these countries have cultural foundations more ancient, and more developed identities, than ours. So let's cut it with the condescension.

The electricity agreements are part of the Niger river generation agreements. For these nations not to dam up the river upstream, we get to owe them particular power obligations. Simple as that.

Currently we are doing 4500 MW on 6200 MW operational capacity , even tho overall capacity is meant to be 13000 MW. All small for a country like NGA. Not to mention that we have enough gas to up it to 40000 MW.... industrialization isnt going to pick up for anything till we rejig the legislative framework for power investments.

And to make it worse our generators nationwide only add 12000 MW to the mix. So that's not even about to solve anything in the long run.

Are they not supposed to pay for what they bought. We know the narrative about maximizing dams. If they don't pay how do we maintain the turbines and other accessories.

So fortunate to be surrounded by countries that needs whatever we can produce unfortunately, the only thing we export successfully is corruption. And we are poorer than poor.

Thank you jare, a lots of ignoramus here. Those countries will continue to enjoy free light cos they will use the damming of the Niger river as blackmail to continue to get free light from Nigeria and we can't do anything about it except we can completely generate electricity form other sources but for as long we continue to depend on the Niger river for electricity, we must continue the father Christmas thing

You cannot give what you don't have, the country is crippled while you are busy selling electricities to other African countries.
It is a shame of a nation with paper knowlegde without drive to grow her economy.
