There was one similar case like that except that the girl has physical disability. The guy who raped her denied it. He had a little change and did not even spend four hours at the police station. Instead, the girl's mom was detained by police for two days.

If you check well now, this man is not even a registered engineer. But in Nigeria, anybody can just wake up one day and arrogate himself a professional title while dragging the real professionals to the mud.

It's not archaic, it creates more curiosity and drives more traffic. It happens all over the world especially in tabloids. I'll only be disappointed if it turns out the person was not an engineer. Professionals should conduct themselves properly in the society. The respect they enjoy imposes some responsibility. They should be outed if they misbehave. When I read writeups like this, I feel sorry for Nigerians. They don't even know what to expect from the govermment because they have failed so much that their failure is now the norm...So a rape victim or the distressed family should pay for investigation into a crime committed against them?
