Rich cultural heritage, I wonder why we ignore some of these age long practices.

The Oba does not want to break ranks with the gods, what is to be done must be done.

Lol. The gods have rejected Obaseki.he shouldn't blame the DoP. As a Benin man was the DoP also responsible for him wearing a cap in the palace? I guess he will redeploy himself also lol.
He has failed already. When you fight the best the Edo has to offer, collude with outsiders to destroy them, you treat the traditional institution with contempt because you have only but a 4year mandate surely the gods will make you mad before destroying you.

So that means they don't wear cap in Benin palace?
Except crown (for king)?

Then explain the need for anointing oil, biscuit, wine (grape juice), rosaries, crucifixes, clasping of hand and closing of eyes, crossing of one's self, sowing of seed, and the other myriad rituals of Christianity. Humans like rituals period. Don't diss one type for another.

What manner of useless tradition is that?

The host presents kolanut and gin to welcome the guests while the guests present gifts.

It seems the Oba is a retired policeman. At this rate, he may need to open a liquor store.

You’re a S l a v e . That’s how people become unfortunate without even knowing the reason.

Spits!!!

This Obaseki na big mumu. Ordinary basic (Kola and gin) Bini royal court protocol he cannot execute. Is this the useless man that will execute the infrastructural projects desperately needed across Edo state?.

Yeye dey smell like sh1t.

Be careful with you choice of word unless maybe you are up to 400 years the benin tradition is over 400 years we have lost a lot in this country the moment we loss our custom and traditions then we have indeed lost our identity as a people.

My friend, just shut it.

Your inferiority complex and illiteracy just shows through your statement.

Christianity or not, Whether you like it or not, our customs remain our customs. If we lose it all, then we will be nothing more than inferior beings- which we already are by the way.

Before these two foreign religions came from the desert and the sea, how did you think we lived our lives?

Some comments here on Nairaland leave a whole lot to be desired. Look at a blackman proudly uplifting a foreign religion that he knows nothing about over the custom of his ancestors. Like you haven't got an identity.

Little wonder the white folks will tell you that you did not have a history before they came to "civilise" you and you would readily believe them because you don't know your roots.

Dammit!

You are not fat from the truth, but you shouldn't put the blame on him entirely. History is not taught in our schools.

We did not try all the religions of the world before we chose what our faith would be; we simply accepted what was introduced to us. That is why we cannot condemn all other religions that we no nothing about.

God is not a Christian or Hindu or Muslim.

He is simply God.

Governor Obaseki still has many times to visit the king in the next 4+ years of his administration so there's plenty kola in advance and gin. no problem

I know that you ask this.
read Isaiah 60:1, and 61. it's taking about Obaseki. and mind you do you read Matthew 17; 24-27, Gen 23:13. there is no cause for alarm because Obaseki is not Esau but Messiah who is annointed by God to redeem and liberate his people
