Do you really want to live under Army rule?

Better be thankful for civlillan rule, warts and all.

Plus, most African countries, Nigeria inclusive, cannot afford a super powerful army infrastructure (South Africa , Egypt are the exceptions.). They are too poor to do so. The days when the Soviets could give you cheap advanced weapons have long gone...

I'm not saying we should live under military rule, I'm saying that African governments, civilian or otherwise, keep their countries barely functional so they can maintain power.

I'm not even suggesting we become the next USA, just give us the necessary knowledge to defend ourselves and communities from attacks the same way Israel is doing. But most African countries won't do that because it means they have to actually work to better the country rather than steal and kill those who oppose it. These days Police, Military, DSS all oppress us they just aren't technically "in charge".

Concerning the weapons I do not believe for a second that we are too "poor" to have them. When we spend millions in French and Brazilian jets or Chinese tanks bought on credit.

We don't even need many weapons just train the citizens so they are prepared if the need arises. Ordinary Benin Republic can do it why can't we?

We can follow the example of these people.

I understand you bro, do you know who owns the medias, they are politicians, they can use the instrument to attacks millions of minds and influence their decision the way they want it.. Honestly,Abacha is not corrupt but they have to paint him bad,do you know how many times this present administration has defended the man, to be honest, don't limit yourself to Nigeria alone...

grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Abacha was not corrupt....

Bros.....where do you think the Abacha loot is coming from ? The skies?

Abacha, like many a millitary ruler before him, looted well well.

Yes, Buhari and GEJ have said Abacha stole nothing...but that was for poltics. Abacha stole. He was also one seriously opressive leader.

Some of you people need a history lesson.

Go and read any book by Max Siloum. Especially the book 'Nigeria's soldiers of fortune. The Abacha and Obasanjo years'.

If you don't like this APC government, go and join a party and get working for the next election.Don't wish for coup. I lived under Amry rule. I know how bad things were.

It is a righteous path if it frees the people from the hand of the brain dead looters and oppressors they call leaders.

As you can see from the picture, they people are happy.

Mind you, this was also how Nigerians felt in 1966 during the military takeover.

You and I know how the events after that turned out.

.

Off topic, but the problem with most African countries is that they rely on selling raw materials...whose prices they don't control, and using the surplus to import goods at a value more than the exports value. Then we take loans to make up the deficit.

That's why I say that we have to become an indistrial country. But when we Nigerian sabotage our power sector by refusing to pay bills, and sabotage our petroleum sector by price controls, which makes investment difficult....

We want the benefits of socialism without the hard work.

Actually, most African countries don't have the resources to get well developed armies....because the income we earn from selling raw materials is not enough. (Libya, when it was under Ghaddafi could afford sophisticated weapons because they were the world's fifth largest oil producer, and they had less than ten million people to boot).

We buy stuff on credit because we don't have enough cash in the first place.

As for Pakistan, they have a millitary industrial complex. We don't.(Pakistan even exported millitary planes to us self).

Lol...tell the man.

In 1966, many people, according to accounts of the day, came out to rejoice when the coup news broke.

As we all know, the events of Januray 15th 1966 triggered off a series of unfortunate events that led to the grim count of millions dead and displaced by January 15 1970.

No, Mali does not need recolonisation.

Most European countries are in no shape to set up colonies again. (The UK granted us independence, along with many other colonies in part because the UK was not in a good financial state to keep up the colonies)

Plus, as I have said here elsewhere, colonization does not mean that the Europeans would come and build nice things for you. If France should colonize Mali, only a few parts would get developed. Most of the country would remain undeveloped. Oh, and you would pay taxes, most of which go to Paris., not to your local leader. And the only parts that get developed are the bits that are of use to the colonialist. not to you.

And let's not talk about the spending of the little money that comes your way...most of it goes to the French rulers. (Ibadan's main hospital under colonial rule had 34 beds for a European populaiton of less than 5000, and 11 beds for a Nigerian population of more than 500000.)

Mali can fix itself. No French rule or American rule or whatever needed. Thank you

Perhaps they have been pushed against the wall and got nothing to loose again, you can see how the masses were cheering the soldiers, perhaps the civilian government looted so much that the people got tired.

My brother some Africa countries are not cowards, they can't sit down and watch their corrupt leaders doing as they want,if Nigerians can do this believe me 30% of our problems would have been solve.....
Tribalism and religion will not allow us to take this action.....
Imagine,we called our selves giant of Africa, but now we are becoming ant of Africa because of bad leaders. We are being rejected in Europe, America,Asian even in Africa.
Unemployment, insecurity and crime is now the order of the day.
Look at the case of Orji and Gandule, they rub it on our faces and still ask us what can we do.Magu case is one among many....
Until we take action against our corrupt leaders, then we shall see light.

If there is any more coups in Nigeria, the only set of troops who can dare attempt it is the brigade of guards. Those guys are really an elite force, I have seen them displaying effizy one time I was in Abuja, and they are really numerous. One funny GOC no fit think am again. Abuja presidential Villa is well built to withstand an external assault.
