This project was suppose to start in 2012.
OMMA Healthcare is currently developing the new American International Hospital Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. This new US Standard acute care facility is being designed by Rees Associates.

OMMA Healthcare, LLC was incorporated in September 1998 as a Colorado, USA Limited Liability Company. The Company's purpose is to assist in the development of diverse healthcare facilities internationally in regions such as the Middle East, Africa, Mexico, Latin America, Central Europe, Asia, and other select geographical areas (including unique programs/facilities in the U.S.). OMMA's U.S. corporate offices are located in Rollinsville, CO, with a satellite office in Walnut Creek, California. OMMA Healthcare is also registered as a company in Nigeria and Iraq. In addition, OMMA Projects—Middle East maintains offices in Baghdad, Iraq, Dubai, UAE, and Beirut, Lebanon.

The development of comprehensive, cost-effective healthcare systems must be ultimately based on the objective of achieving the highest quality of patient care as measured by key outcome criteria as per "U.S. Standards of Care". OMMA is structured to meet this challenge by involving experienced professional healthcare management and technical resources having the knowledge and expertise to advance project development as a total systems process. Success in this approach requires the involvement of physicians, healthcare personnel, medical insurance and managed care organizations, private businesses in the market area, and community business leaders. From the very beginning of the project's development, the participation of these groups ensures that the process properly addresses the unique economic, cultural, and political aspects of the community.

The total commitment to a team approach in all phases of project development makes OMMA unique in the international, as well as the domestic, healthcare field. This is best reflected by the fact that all projects have a dedicated Project Director for purposes of sustaining continuity, quality control, and long-term project accountability. Even more unique is the fact that each project leader must be an OMMA principal coreexecutive.

The hospital is directly linked to clinic and the outpatient services which includes a 12 exam room clinic, outpatient dialysis center, outpatient infusion center, radiation oncology and an outpatient pharmacy. Two, three-level residential buildings providing 100 living units is connected to the hospital through pedestrian walkways. Also all five, 400 square meter retail buildings are linked by a series of covered pedestrian walkways. The hospital is located at the highest point of the highest point of the site for a high profile presence to the surrounding community and travelers passing through. The exterior is simple to directly reflect the clear and functional planning of the hospital." - Rees Website

Buhari spent many years visiting hospitals in London for medical check-up. As a matter of fact, he was away from the country for many months, culminating in concerns that he may be impeached for his absence from work.

Today, that man has never taken steps to build or replicate the standard of hospital he uses in London here in Nigeria as a legacy he's living behind so as to reduce medical tourism.

This is a very good development, we should see more of such projects all over the country, building of industries that will create more jobs.
Most of us in Nigeria don't vote and that explains why only about 35% of registered voter participate in actual voting ( this includes rigged figures). In a country of over 200million people with half of her population above 18, only 15m made the current president and another 12m voted opposition. Total 27 out of a 100m million possible votes that could have changed the game. But this is not my focus now.
My concern now is fact that most of us are tertiary voters. The primary voters are those who determine those that make it to the political party primaries. The secondary voters are those who vote at party congresses and primaries. The tertiary voters are those who have a PVC and take the time against all odds to vote.
As we approach 2023, we will be making same mistake if we wait until late in 2022 to start bragging about having a PVC. The focus of every well meaning Nigerian now should be how to step up in political participation. Move from voting between the devil and the deep blue sea on election mornings to actually determining who become the party candidate. If not, join me to push for independent candidacy to be allowed in the electoral act amendment. Until till then, prepare for more lamentation in future.
The leaders are really not the problem but the docility of we the followers.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The same hospital they won't treat their families member, after the structure what next? Equipping it will be problem and maintenance culture will be throw into the dustbin.

Akpabio once boasted of building an ultra modern hospital in Akwa Ibom, but immediately he got involved in an accident he was flown abroad.

How many of the others built service they need abroad in Nigeria. Buhari is as bad as the rest and still not the worse. Akpabio that built hospital never seen in West Africa before is being insulted by foolish Igbos on NL today cos he does not belong to the PDP but they celebrate a common criminal in the person of Peter Obi who stole Anambra state fund to build the biggest mail in Abuja while he was still the governor of the state. That's who this fools want us believe is a saint capable of looting Nigeria aground.

Good one!

We actually need infrastructures in the health sector! This health tourism by the elites and politicians would have reduced if there are good healthcare facilities in place to solve and manage their health problems.
