Buhari spent many years visiting hospitals in London for medical check-up. As a matter of fact, he was away from the country for many months culminating in concerns that he may be impeached for his absence from work.

Today, that man has never taken steps to build the standard of hospital he uses in London here in Nigeria as a legacy he's living behind so as to reduce medical tourism.

This is a very good development, we should see more of such projects all over the country, building of industries that will create more jobs.
Most of us in Nigeria don't vote and that explains why only about 35% of registered voter participate in actual voting ( this includes rigged figures). In a country of over 200million people with half of her population above 18, only 15m made the current president and another 12m voted opposition. Total 27 out of a 100m million possible votes that could have changed the game. But this is not my focus now.
My concern now is fact that most of us are tertiary voters. The primary voters are those who determine those that make it to the political party primaries. The secondary voters are those who vote at party congresses and primaries. The tertiary voters are those who have a PVC and take the time against all odds to vote.
As we approach 2023, we will be making same mistake if we wait until late in 2022 to start bragging about having a PVC. The focus of every well meaning Nigerian now should be how to step up in political participation. Move from voting between the devil and the deep blue sea on election mornings to actually determining who become the party candidate. If not, join me to push for independent candidacy to be allowed in the electoral act amendment. Until till then, prepare for more lamentation in future.
The leaders are really not the problem but the docility of we the followers.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Can I get voter's card now?

You are right...

But the problem is not building the hospital, the problem is maintaining the hospital.

Obasanjo spent millions upgrading teaching hospitals to world class when he was in office. Today, all of them are in a 'mess' beause he and succesive governments did not upgrade their budgets...or the hospital fees.

This hospital you are admiring is not for the common Nigerian. They would have to charge very high fees to maintain their high standard.

As for Buhari, if he wanted to build hospitals like this, we would need a health budget of at least $100 billion dollars, not the $3 billion or less that we are managing with out of a budget of $10 billion

How many of the others built service they need abroad in Nigeria. Buhari is as bad as the rest and still not the worse. Akpabio that built hospital never seen in West Africa before is being insulted by foolish Igbos on NL today cos he does not belong to the PDP but they celebrate a common criminal in the person of Peter Obi who stole Anambra state fund to build the biggest mail in Abuja while he was still the governor of the state. That's who this fools want us believe is a saint capable of looting Nigeria aground.

What is the meaning of biggest mail

Does anyone still remember the billion Dollar proposed medical city in Akure Ondo state with the German guy?
I told you guys then the whole thing was a scam. There is no way only one white man or any man for that matter can sign a billion Dollar contract all by himself alone. I then went on German register of companies website and checked his name, it shows the man's company only quoted a turnover of 25.000 Euros for the last financial year with no profit.

So we have to take stories like these with a pinch of salt because they are usually a scam.

You see, he doesn't need to build another hospital. Just upgrade the existing ones to the standard of those he uses in London.

Is it not the man who lives in Aso Rock without simple drugs in its clinic meanwhile so much is budgeted for it?

The problem is not the upgrading, it is maintaining the upgrading.

All those nice hospitals in London are maintained by

1.High health budgets

2.Very high taxes. UK's tax to GDP ratio is 33.5% compared to Nigeria's 5.8%

3.High fees in the case of private ones.

We upgraded our tertiary hospitals under Obasanjo (via VAMED). And all that upgrading has fallen to bits because the money to keep up the upgrading was not there.

If you are saying we can neither build nor upgrade, then Nigeria does not need to exist.

They should invite the British to continue from where they stopped in 1960.

No, either we pay high taxes, or high fees ,or we take the hard economic decisions to get the kind of economy we want.

(British don't have the money or cash to recolonize any country...plus colonial rule means development ONLY for the bits useful to the British)

corona pandemic have make them to get sense to value what belong to the country and to spend more money on health section so that our policies can treat themselves here in instead of running to abroad for treatment

Op remind us after it is completed...in Nigeria we are used to 3d modelling and artistic rendering of projects that never see the light of day...

Even the Eko Atlantic project with the foreign ownership and hype is crawling like a turtle with massive algae bloom taking over a substantial portion of the reclaimed land.
Re: Construction Of American International Hospital, Calabar (Photos) by vertueptime: 9:19am On Aug 19, 2020
They cant maintain it, why not build 1/4 of that to easily manage, one calabar has bad roads in and leading to it, 2 it is not a confluence state or in the middle where travellers pass to get to other states, it is at the tail end, 3 the state is a civil service state, no big functional production companies except 3 or 4,asides ports and that small airport, obudu ranch which you might get kidnapped on your way there, tinapa is as good as dead, who are those that will afford the hospital to sustain it, to cut the story short, its a white elephant project
