Nigerian Legislators Are More Important Than Nigerian Students- President Jonathan by seanet02: 4:15pm On Feb 24, 2011
I was reading through some articles on the staggering 25% of the Nation Budget being spent on the Nations Legislators, then i stumble on a Punch Editorial where i was faced with a Reality. The reality is Education gets less than 7% of the Budget while Nigerian Legislators gets 25%. The editorial also confirms that a Nigerian University get less than N600 Million Naira for Capital Expenditure while the combination of the Salaries and Wages of just 3 Senators equals about N700 Million. While the 11 suspended Legislators in the Reps were reported to have lost about N650 Million in just about 3 months. A breakdown of this Year's budget submitted by President Confirms that The National Assembly gets about 19% of the Budget while the Education Sphere was allocated less than 8% of the Budget. This simply means that President Jonathan values Nigerian Legislators more than Nigerian Students. What is your opinion?
