The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on Sunday announced that 78 companies submitted virtual bids to rehabilitate its downstream pipelines, associated depots and terminal infrastructure through the finance, build, operate and transfer model.

NNPC’s Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari, said the exercise was in fulfilment of the corporation’s commitment to transparency and accountability as an Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative partner company.

Kyari disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja by the spokesperson of the oil firm, Kennie Obateru.

He said the finance, build, operate and transfer model became imperative in the corporation’s journey to rehabilitate its downstream infrastructure which over time had become vulnerable, lost value and integrity due to age and incessant vandalism.

He said some of the assets were as old as 40 years and were due for replacement, adding that to carry out such a replacement of this magnitude, there would be need for resources.

Kyari was quoted as saying, “And we know that we require these assets so we decided that we bring in private partners who will fund these pipelines; they will construct operate them with us.

“And ultimately they will fully recover their investment from the tariff which we will pay for using these pipelines and as soon as they recover their cost and their margin, they will hand over these assets back to us.”

Kyari stated that by the end of the first quarter of 2021, the final partners of the bid opening would be selected.

He assured the bidders that the NIPEX portal which was deployed for the pre-qualification exercise was a time tested technology that would not give room for any human indiscretion.

The corporation’s Chief Operating Officer, Downstream, Lawrencia Ndupu, who was represented by the Managing Director, Petroleum Products Marketing Company, Musa Lawan, said the Nigerian Pipelines and Storage Company operates 5,120 length of pipelines.

She said the pipelines traverses the entire country with two coastal depots in Lagos and Calabar, adding that the public bid opening processes was being done transparently.

This means more crude oil and more money for the cabal.

What we need now is more fuel not crude oil.

The fvck
Niggarr!!

This things I keep hearing every time. You are fixing pipelines and our refineries are not working. There are no solid plans to make them start working.

Eerything this government does in the oil and gas sector is on paper. This is just another means to siphon funds.

Everyone wants a bite from the national cake, we must change that mentality.

But I try to keep up by hustling in my own lil way so I don't get secluded. We pushing our way to the top and one day if it happens we get into power, we do it the right way it ought to be done.

For the people, for Nigerians.

One thing my Economics teacher taught me in high school that I will never forget.

One of the factors that affect the situation of industries being nearness to the raw material.

When we have oil deposits in the Niger Delta and yet you built a refinery up North in Kaduna that is thousands of kilometers away from the deposits, you have to spend millions in dollars in trying to link the refinery to the oil deposits by installing pipelines.

We have always had dumb niggars from time, I'm not surprised Nigeria is not doing well.

#Peace out

Nice development, hope they are not owned or in connection with any thief bearing the occupation "Politician". If not let them be rejected. But I know Naija my country Sha, anything goes. Truth is we in the Niger Delta are tired; our lands have been destroyed for oil and yet the oil we've sacrificed ourselves for is still being mismanaged. No thanks to our evil, greedy demons turned leaders. Niger Delta is what's keeping Nigeria united for so long and our labour will not be in vain after giving up our lands. Our hardwork won't destroy.

NIGERIA MUST BE GREAT AGAIN. God bless us.
