ALLEGED CPC VANDALISM: GOJE LIED- PDP OFFICIAL

The immediate past director of mobilization of the Goodluck/ Sambo PDP presidential campaign, Alhaji Abubakar Muazu has accused the Gombe State governor, Alhaji Danjuma Goje, of bearing false witness against the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, and his supporters over the stoning and vandalizing of the president’s campaign office in the state

Alhaji Muazu, in a telephone chat with LEADERSHIP SUNDAY yesterday, alleged that the governor masterminded the vandalism of the president’s campaign office but made it look as if the action was perpetrated by the CPC presidential candidate’s supporters.

Gen. Buhari’s supporters were reported to have stoned the entourage of President Jonathan when he arrived in Gombe State last Wednesday for his presidential campaign. They were also accused of vandalising the president’s office, an action that provoked calls for prosecution of the suspected vandals.

Mauzu told LEADERSHIP SUNDAY that the governor’s motive was to rope in some of the CPC candidtates in the state to give room for the governor’s candidates to have a smooth sail in the April elections.

He said Gombe people have great love and respect for President Jonathan and would not nurse or wish him any harm, adding that the people were against the governor’s bullying.

He stated: “The governor lied to the president on the issue of stoning and vandalism. The governor sent his thugs to the office to destroy and finish all the things left in the office. The Buhari boys only threw stones but they did not go into the office.

“The governor was only trying to give the impression that there was no security so that the president would give directive to the governor to arrest the CPC people in the state. The governor is doing it because he wants his sons-in-law contesting for the House of Representatives in Gombe Funakye and Kwami federal constituency and Dukku and Nafada federal constituency to have an easy election. He wanted to use the excuse of the attack to arrest the CPC candidates in those constituencies”, he said

Muazu called for the sanctions on the governor for lying to the president and misleading the leadership of the country’s ruling party.

“The governor is supposed to be sanctioned for telling the president and the presidential entourage lies. If not that the president is a gentleman, he could have given those directive and if he had, Gombe would have been on fire by now.

“The people did not throw stones at the president, but because of the bully style of the governor. It was because of the governor. The people are tired of him. He sees the PDP as his personal property. Such a person who can lie and fabricate things for his selfish gain should not be allowed to become a senator in this country,” Muazu said.

The former director queried the motive for the action of the governor, pointing out that it was the governor that called the CPC presidential candidate on telephone and requested for a courtesy visit. “Now he is telling the world that Buhari is a violent person. Goje should face a PDP disciplinary council,” he said.
