High rate of unemployment is the main bane of our societal peace and tranquility without which no amount of salary of police would be able to curtain violence and killings in the land

I think the civil defence and immigration earns better pay than the police.

How true is this salary structure? And what is the fate of other paramilitary groups like Custom, Civil defence, Immigration, Fire and Correctional services?

All high risk jobs are well paid jobs, I don't know why our policemen and soldiers have to earn so little.
Something is wrong with this country bro. A senator that sit only 3rices a week earn above 1.8 billion a year, apart from contracts and other chukuchuku which are more than the legal earnings. To worsen the situation some of them are ex-governors collecting heavily from states yet no security outfit can boost of a better living.
Gun is power, u trained people, empower them with guns and leave them hungry what did u expect? The salaries in question are not even true, they have not even dream of that only on paper. God help us.

The idea that Nigerians are corrupt because of poverty is naive. Corruption is a way of life that results from lack of accountability.

Since 1999, government workers have received significant salary increases - lecturers, soldiers, police, customs, etc. It hasn't made them less corrupt. During Yar'Adua/GEJ's govt, wages more than tripled with minimum wages going from N5k to N18k. There was no reduction in corruption as a result.

Instead, salary increases lead to "lifestye creep". The higher someone's income is, the higher their taste for expensive things. Think of the SARS officers that march people to ATMs, they're likely better paid than regular police officers who ask you for N100. Increasing wages without accountability/repercussions for corruption is a recipe for producing even more extortionate police officers. This is why your National Assemby legislators are never satisfied, the more they receive and get away with the more they demand. If possible, we will get to a point where senators demand private jets.

Naija is broke and cannot afford to pay such salary. With the low price of oil internationally which is Naija main bread and butta, how will you expect Buhari to pay all these olopa this money? Naija that is still owing world bank , China money

Sowe has no ideas.

He is just like the current politicians.

Where will he get the money from?

Have you observed that when every Nigeria govt increase salaries, the value of the Naira depreciates further?

Solutions

Increase minimum wage, increase taxes progressively , reduce corporation and business taxes for now.

Policies must be focused on reducing inflation.

Improved salary structure means more sane people can apply to be recruited.

But more money is not a motivation to stop extortion.

A case study of Nigerian politicians, they are making huge money but they stole and kept palliatives for themselves and future great grand kids.

Another step is the recruitment process. If the police fails to distinguish between idiots and reasonable ones during recruitment, then same problems would keep repeating.

Pray for change to start in our homes
All the idiots u are talking about are Nigerians.

Naija needs to find other way to make money or else Buhari or next president will keep burrowing and burrowing until even the Lenders go say no. Oil money cannot fully substain Nigeria and this is the bitter truth. For the next upcoming election, please elect someone that has a successful business background.

Are Nigerian salaries paid in fx?

Why do they need fx from oil to pay salaries?

Just curious
