Yes ooh. We will tax Nigerians to bail Nigeria out of RECESSION. We will tax Nigerians to the point that no Nigerian can afford to buy imported goods. Then our naira will appreciate and we will be out of recession.

Stupid people. You can get more tax revenue if you increase production, automatically

More taxes with a reduced level of production means a repressive tax system

True but the government is not responsible for creating jobs.

U right though, should be private sector growth, then tax.

They always have it upside down grin

Useless stupid Charter taxation thieves.

How will taxation of Nigerians bail us out of recession.

We need foreign currency. How do we get foreign currency, that's what we should be thinking

Since crude was discovered in the 60s, Nigeria lost any ability to earn foreign currency apart from crude sales and yahoo - yahoo.

Very simple. It's not rocket science.

@CITN, the informal sector are paying one form of levy or the other. Why not suggest a taxing bussiness that doesn't have fixed base in Nigeria but accrued revenue from here.

From January 2020 to December 2020. Nigeria achievement is Zero.
It pains a lot to hear no achievement, all you hear is wide tax net, collect more loans, looted funds from politicans, strike from ASUU, increase in petrol price, looted pension, unpaid salary for 3 months of workers, no electricity-how is the power situation in your area, increased price of food stuff as a result of high inflation rate.
Banana Republic country.

If the federal government create an enabling envoironment indirectly they're creating jobs.
Don't also forget, the government is the largest employer.

What a funny country? Thats how some self acclaimed internal revenue officers stormed my girlfriend's shop yesterday. she was told that she needed to pay 6k, but later bargained to pay 3k. but later discovered it was supposed to be 1k. I couldn't help but laugh. What a country. They should slash politiefians salary as well and also stop using huge amount of tax payers money on negligible projects like using 81 million naira on grass cutting
Anyone outside government or formal sector payroll that pays taxes in Nigeria is father Christmas. There is zero motivation or justification to pay taxes in that country.

I will rather urinate from my nose than to willingly pay taxes to the Nigerian government! I dey craze? Pay tax for what services? The roads? Power supply? Education? So somebody will walk out of the desert, grabs power and spend 8 years destroying the lives of the struggling masses and I will be here paying taxes to him!? Taxes for what? Taxes for terror?

Yeah after taxing me to oblivion, a certain governor from a certain barren northern state would then earmark 6.1 billion naira to rebuild a new government house.

A certain dead president and his vice would remember they need 600 million naira to eat food in a year. A stupid senator or rep would get a brand new Suv every 4 years so far he rigs himself into the National assembly.

They are all mad! Very mad! Me I'd rather pay tax to Ghana than Nigeria God punish them

Okay naw. Informal be looking formal now after mismanaging previous tax funds. Okay oooooo!

If u have a notorious/bad habit of mismanaging funds having more funds won’t help u cos u will only have more funds to mismanage and embezzle.

Taxing people without having sense is waste of time and money.

Nigerians don't pay taxes because they have no trust in people governing them.

Of course a lot of Nigerians are busy screaming that 'the government wants to tax us to death'

Well, our tax to gdp ratio is 5.8%. Ghana, South Africa have higher tax to gdp ratios....and no issues with paying saalries etc. (And they have corrupt governments too....SA still has the Gupta bros case ongoing....)

Nigeria, sadly is not paying enough in tax, and we are not earning enough from oil. Economic diversificaiton is going to take a while...and even then, we don't produce things like gold in the needed amounts.

So, taxes have to go up.

If you don't want taxes to go up, then don't complain when governments take more loans. (Or pray that the oil prices go up to $150 and above per barrel).

There is nothing wrong with taxation as long as the government provides conducive environment for businesses to thrive. Nigeria ain't got such government. It is morally wrong and illegal to pay tax to such a wasteful government.

Government is free to make repressive laws. More blame goes to the citizens who bend over backwards to obey such nonsense laws. Did people learn anything from #EndSARS protests? Power belongs to the people.
