By the way, a lot of the raw materials that the refinery will use will be transported by pipeline.

Dangote is constructing a subsea pipeline (that is, it will be under the seabed) from Bonny to Olokola (he had originally planned to build his refinery at Olokola and the Ondo State Government is still looking for an investor to build a refinery there) and then from Olokola to Ibeju-Lekki. The pipeline will transport gas for his fertilizer plant.

There will also be a pipeline that will transport crude from the Niger Delta to Ibeju Lekki.

Finally, if necessary, he has made plans to receive imported crude via his own port at Ibeju Lekki.

I think that's why the governments of Lagos and Ogun are seriously working on the Epe Ijebu-ode axis

Considering the hype about Lekki as hotcake destination for real estate investment,
the presence of an oil refinery creates jobs and brings rapid development to surrounding communities. However, Lagos is still having traffic issues with Apapa sea port and it's beyond the control of Presidency.

Will Apapa trucks disappear with the arrival of Lagos to Ibadan railway?
Will Dangote oil tankers make Lekki unattractive?
Will FG compel Dangote to use only shipping routes (Lekki to Apapa, Warri and Calabar)?

But Dangote Group Executive Director Devakumar Edwin told an OTL (Oil Trading and Logistics) Expo in Lagos that fuels would go via “shuttle” boats to Nigerian cities Warri and Calabar, and that other deliveries would go in trucks.

Lekki is under Eti-osa LGA.
While Dangote refinery is around Eleko, under Ibeju-Lekki LGA.
They are two different LGA, I think people should understand that, before anything. Ibeju-Lekki is not lekki o...

It's meant to be a refinery not a fuel depot.

Most of the petroleum products deliveries from Dangote Refineries will be channelled through oil vessels, via the Atlantic ocean, to various fuel depots in Apapa, Warri, Oghara, Koko, Calabar, Uyo, Port-harcourt, Onne etc. Tankers, in most cases, receive products from depots and not directly from refineries.

The value chain will look like this: Refinery - Fuel Depots - Tankers.

Wealth/Value ought to be spread amongst these three channels and not between two.

You over-hyped Lekkians, with your brownish bore-hole water and flood-prone streets are pretty safe. You lots have enough problems already. Ẹ ma bẹru rara.
There is actually a HUGE depot there with nearly 200 truck loading bay!

Wow!

Then expect Lekki to turn to a dirty slum like Apapa and environs with tankers parking indiscriminately everywhere, ogogoro sellers having a field day and those aboki drivers defaecating in gutters.

The value of real estate in that zone go fall be that.

In civilized countries, petroleum products are moved by pipeline or train tanker. Only backward countries move them by road

Third post since joining Nairaland 4 months ago.
Made it to FP!
Thanks to Mods for switching it to the right forum.

I reserve my comments on too much expectations from DG, LASG & FG concerning standard practice, especially government projects that take years to complete.
I sincerely hope for the best, while air pollution remains constant.

I think this would have been factored in by the Govt and Dangote.

I'm sure they have plans cos Lekki is for the rich, they won't want to turn their abode to another Apapa.

The trucks may be forced to go through Epe and make Epe people suffer.

So, Epe people will siddon look?
Lasg care more about tax collection and not welfare of Lagosians.

He should be smart enough to build a pipeline to a less congested location from where his product will be lifted to other States.

Pipelines are prone to compromise and vandalism in our country.

1) Dangote Refinery is in Ibeju Lekki Local Government, while Lekki (Abraham Adesanya, Lekki Phase 1, etc.) are in Eti-Osa Local Government.

2) Eti-Osa Local Government will not be significantly affected by the refinery.

3) It will actually make Ibeju Lekki more attractive. Dangote Refinery is in the Lekki Free Trade Zone area and this area is mainly occupied by businesses and the refinery will attract more businesses.

4) Most of the goods from the Free Trade Zone area will not pass through Eti-Osa.

5) Ondo State Government is building an expressway from Araromi to Ibeju-Lekki in order to take advantage of the Free Trade Zone.

6) Ogun and Lagos State Governments are building an expressway from Ijebu to Ibeju-Lekki to take advantage of the Free Trade Zone area.

7) Dangote had already built his port in the area. A lot of the equipment for his refinery could not come through the Apapa Port and so he built his own port to handle them. Goods will be moved out of Lagos through that port.

8 ) The Lagos State Government is also building both a seaport and an airport in the area.

9) There will also be a jetty on the Lekki Lagoon through which goods will be moved to Ikorodu, Epe and other parts of Lagos by barges.

You really trust the state governors to complete the road projects asap.

The government and dangote can go into agreement to construct a railway.it will be easy for him to move his product and not be a burden to the residents in the area.

Do you think Dangote is interested in railway?
It is a capital intensive project like electricity.
Let's wait for the completion of blue & red rail project by Lasg.
