Lol let's see what the next unemployment report will say about Akwa Ibom. Right now its the second worst in the country at 45.2%. If they're not exaggerating the jobs numbers there should see a major drop. The state should be focusing all it's attention to attrating private sector investors to the industrial city complementing the port and Oil and Gas Free zone.

Power china and bellore are the preferred bidders of the port actually. The industrial city still needs investors.

The last one was locked but in response to someone on the other thread, my other half of the family is yoruba, and they have all been pushing for a new port to be built somewhere else in Nigeria, but it hasn’t happened stop assuming and generalising just because a mere 10 000 of a total 40 million people don’t want something to happen and because they get news coverage doesn’t mean that all of us think the same way, so shut up and get a life we are one nation stop dividing us through ethnic lines.

The port just needs a north south rail line and it will be perfect. It's preferable the cargo moves on rails than roads so the city wont be too congested. Akwa Ibom will probably need to redesign their master plan.

There are no existing railway lines in Akwa Ibom State. However, the Port Harcourt-Nguru line runs to the west of the state with the closest connection point being at Aba. The Master Plan for Nigeria Railway System Development adopted in 2010 proposed the modernisation of all existing lines and a number of new lines. The Master Plan proposals included a new line between Calabar and Benin via Uyo, Aba and Port Harcourt, with possible extension to Lagos, and a Calabar-Uyo-Umuahia line.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with the China Civil Engineering Construction Company for the construction of the Lagos- Calabar line, with the Port Harcourt- Uyo-Calabar section expected to be operational within two to three years.
The current position with regards to the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt- Maiduguri line, which is identified as a short-term priority in the NIIMP, is not known. Upgrading of this line to standard gauge will be important to maximising the benefits of rail connection to the Industrial City by providing through standard gauge connections to the north
of the country.

come off it.

You are talking as if Buhari is not what we accuse him of.

Is Buhari not nepotistic?

Is every appointments under Buhari not taken by the Muhammads and Ishaq Bellos who can't score 7 out of a 110 points?

But with that said, Buhari administration has been excellent with infrastructure.

For 16 years PDP kept awarding Enugu-Onitsha and Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway only for the billions budgeted for the project to be embezzled with no one brought to book.

But I traveled from Enugu to Owerri through Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway and I promised myself I will be less critical of Buhari. Apart of Lokponta section of the road where Hausa people park their trailers, the road is almost completed. And quality job is being done.

Same with Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. Quality asphalting and solid construction. Nobody dares embezzle the money now.

Enugu International airport is being fenced round with best of architectural design. Thats after the reconstruction of the airport runway. Something PDP didn't do in 16 years.

Second Niger bridge is going on as planned.

In the end, the administration of Buhari might favour the Southeast more than any other administration since the return to democracy.

This is an unbiased opinion informed by reason.

Then we would need to extend the rail line from Uyo to the port site, and make sure that there is a 12 lane highway from the port to uyo, which eventually links up to the north-south highway which is being built from maiduguri to Calabar.

They still need investors for the industrial city to establish businesses. Akwa Ibom currently selling plots of land for that purpose. Refer to the industrial city website.

The land uses illustrated were informed by the Market Study and a strong desire for such plots has already driven interest
for developments. If you would like to reserve a plot within Ibom Industrial City, please contact us here.

The residential, mixed, use, civic and educational facilities are concentrated within city, district and neighbourhood centres, with the heavy industrial and logistics land uses located predominately around the Ibom Deep Sea Port. To the northeast and northwest of the residential areas and city centre are light industrial zones. Proposed road and rail links ensure the site
is well-connected.

A network of green open spaces provides high quality amenity for the residents of the IIC

The appointment arguement has been debunked already. Dont you know the goalposts has been shifted to "strategic appointments"?

The document, seen by our reporter, revealed that people from the South West constitute 33.7 per cent of those engaged by the president as ministers and aides.

This is followed by people from the North West, 19.5 per cent; North East, 15.3 per cent; South South, 12.6 per cent; North Central, 11.1 per cent and South East, 7.9 per cent.
