What Do You Think Of Obama's "goldilocks" Us/nato Intervention In Libya? by Ivynwa(f): 8:44am On Mar 27, 2011
A U.S.-led coalition began air strikes against Libya a week ago to establish a no-fly zone over the oil-exporting North African country and to try to prevent Gaddafi from using his air force to attack people rebelling against his rule. What do you think of that move? Do you support it or are you against it? The move was described in the words of a writer as:

The Goldilocks military plan: Not too much, not too little, not too unilateral, not too American. The operation against Muammar Gaddafi's regime in Libya mirrors the moderate temperament of its architect, Barack Obama. But will it work in the rough realities of international politics? Is Obama's package a wise one?
Methinks it was wise of him to limit the US participation in it yet I am wishing that there is a less forceful solution to Libya's problem than that that will not involve the loss of lives in the course of war.

the us nato intervention has nothing to do with humanitarian issues and everythign to do with the appropriation of libya's vast oil resources, libya has the largest oil reserves on the african continent.

the intervention was based on the spurious allegation that gadaffi attacked unarmed protesters - this has never been backed up with corroborated evidence and even the US defence secretary stated that he has no evidence that gadaffi strafed unarmed civillians:

http://www.defense.gov/transcripts/transcript.aspx?transcriptid=4777

http://landdestroyer..com/2011/03/libya-another-war-another-pack-of-lies.html

if you research the 1991 iraq war and the excuse that the US gave for the intervention then there is a story about sadam's soldiers throwing babies out of incubators onto the floor,this excuse was used to justify intervention, it subsequently turned out that this story was made up by the US intelligence serivices to justify an attack against saddam, you also have the very recent weapons of mass destruction excuse used by the US to justify intervention against iraq - up till now no WMDs have ever been found, this should alert you to the fact that you can not trust the words of the US govt.

what you describe as the goldilocks military plan is inaccurate, i would not describe america's intervention in libya as moderate, the americans have been planning this intervention for months in advance, but its just that its been covert - read this:

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=23983

also the fact that america launched 120 tomahawk missiles in the first days of these strikes should indicate to you that they are taking the lead in this operation.

the americans know exactly what they are doing - the current destablisation of the middle east was planned a long time ago, even one of their retired generals confirms that fact here:

This destablisation will not be limited to the middle east only. How many of us in Africa know that the US government is planing to take over Africa's wealth and remove by any means all who oppose or don't oppose to get at what ever they think they should have? While every one is glad to see a person of color in the white house (Barack Obama) this is a great deception as part of the plan to continue to go under cover of so-called help to Africa by U.S. military forces to take oil and any thing else without the people of the land receiving anything but death for their land. The code name is "Africom"!  This should be our major concern, there is nothing more pressing at this point in time of our collective history. Don't let yourself and other family members be hoodwinked into continuing to support a War that is not ours as we have been doing for the past 500 years, helping a enemy destroy what is our own. In 2005 the European Union met in Geneva and decided that they must kill off 300 Million souls or people to have better control over natural resources. Just who do you think they are talking about??  Many will perish opposing Africom and other diabolical plans that have been made in secret.

i am very convinced that nigeria might be next, if the US could turn on their long term ally Mubarak - why would any nigerian puppet president be any different- horus - what do you think of nigeria's vote in support of the resolution to intervene in libya and then the AU's subsequent call for a ceasefire and negotiation - whats that all about?

@Cap
If one take your theory that the West are deliberately going after the wealth/oil of other countries to heart, it will make one wonder whether the human race is really as evolved as our technology, development and intelligence has made us believe. The common saying "the survival of the fittest" comes to mind. Human seems not to have evolved as we all tell ourselves that we have if it's all the same (selfish scrambling with no consideration for others) that is supposed to exist in the animal kingdom alone.

@Horus
You definitely can't be serious about the European union's decison in Geneva to exterminate 33 souls in oder to have control of resources, what's your source? It really sounds hard to believe.

Today's news has it that the rebels are fast regaining the control they seem to have lost last week. We all know that war involves loss of lives, on that note what other form do you think or can you suggest that can be employed to quell the Libya political problem? Do you think that dialogue and negotiation (which seems to be the solution the AU are suggesting) can work?

Ivynwa - the europeans built their civilisation on stealing from weaker nations, read about the scramble for africa in 1885 in which all the european powers divided up africa amongst themselves in order to steal the natural resources of the various countries within.  this stealing is still going on but under a different cover - now its done under the cover of free trade, IMF loans and SAP.

Maybe Nigeria's vote in support of the resolution to intervene in libya was just to avoid to be next on the list. The AU's call for a ceasefire and negotiation is a better option.

USA is a very selfish state and very vibrant in playing international politics in favor of herself, The invasion on lybian soil is just to impose democracy on them so that they will penetrate into their government and monitor lybian resource in favor of USA

Its time for Africans to come together and say NO to invasion and stop killin each others

Isn't it nice that African leaders are at the verge of bringing peace to libya (in the link below)?, I hope they succeed. Our world is too filled with wars and hating and bombings and terrors for more wars to be springing up.

He had to intervene in order to avert a humanitarian crisis.
