6 Questions Regarding Mubarak Bala's Blasphemy Case by Neonspook: 10:45am On Dec 22, 2020
1. Why was Mubarak not charged with any offense? By law, he should have been charged within 4 days and he has still not been charged.

2. Why was Mubarak denied access to his lawyers and his family for more than five months?

3. Why was a court order granting Mubarak access to his lawyers on June 25, ignored by the police?

4. Why did it take 164 days for a court to hear Mubarak’s fundamental rights enforcement petition when, by law, it should have been heard within 7 days?

5. Why did it take nine weeks for the court to deliver judgment in this fundamental rights case which was uncontested by the state?

6. After keeping Mubarak illegally for over 170 days, why did neither Kano State nor Kano police show up in court to defend their actions?

There are criminals to be found in this case but Mubarak is not one of them. He is the innocent victim of a ruling elite who disregard the laws of their country at will, and care nothing for fundamental rights built into the Nigerian Constitution.

Marbarak did nothing wrong even his accusers cant bring a charge against him. This just shows Kano is run by tyrannical religious zealots. The policemen who illegally detained him should be in jail themselves.

Nigeria is messed up....we have two parallel laws running in a democratic country.....
What’s worse, Muslim public office holders elected on the principle of democracy all of a sudden use religious text that’s not in the constitution that elected them to operate and jail citizen....

Imagine the Kano state Governor saying he will sign the death sentence of the man accused of singing/joking about mohammed....on what grounds?? When this is not an Islamic state??

The cowardly Justice Inyang Ekpo enabled the states criminality. If there's no formal charge them theirs no case to be had. The state didn't contest the case so it should be an automatic win for the defense. Theres no reason to delay justice if the state made it clear they dont care enough to appear in court.

It's a good thing blasphemy laws are being challenged on constitutional grounds by AAI. Maybe after its declared unconstitutional they will stop violating the law. The chief justice will probably rule against it but there's 15 other justices to consider.

The below is the latest on Mubarak Bala's case as at December 21st 2020....

On 21 December 2020, a judge at the High Court in Abuja, Nigeria, ruled that Mubarak Bala should be immediately released from detention in Kano State, where he has been held since April 2020.

The ruling in which the judge declared Bala’s continuous incarceration as illegal and ordered his immediate release follows a ‘fundamental rights’ petition detailing how Bala has been detained without charge for more than seven months, for five months of which, he was denied access to his legal representatives.
The Court also awarded 250,000 Naira (around $500USD) against the Respondents.

Nigeria Northern muslims are quite united, They know themselves more than how others know them, they can't play with any issue related to their religion, And rest. their only problem is taking vengeance themselves, if God can tell you don't take vengeance when somebody offended you, muslim should learn how to commit every case in the hand of God than taking vengeance themselves.

The problem is that, those that are affected by the sharia law are not complaining. They have taken it as their faith and are never bothered about the punishment. Those of them keeping silent today will also fall a victim to the same law tomorrow.

It’s not just about blasphemy sir....Nigeria is running a Democratic goverment and all its executives are elected in that ground...:any other law that wants to run in any state should be democratically driven...
So, Why would such religious law stand in the first place....if they want an Islamic law then let them break Kano out of Nigeria.....and let them have a state governed by Islamic rulings only...whoever is going there will know that’s whats obtainable just like going to Saudi Arabia

What’s happening now Is absurd, citizens living in Kano has to abide by democratic laws and shariah laws that don’t even know what it entails.....
I mean people’s rights are being violated for thing they have no knowledge of.... what’s not wrong under democratic laws is wrong under sharia...

Even-though I don't support this sort of prosecution from Muslim faithfuls because it is archaic, barbaric and the world has gone pass the stone age that they are operating on its manual.

I feel idi.ots like Daddy Freeze and some lunatics here on nairaland including comedians that directly or indirectly insult christiandom would had kept mum if christian faithfuls do same.

Mohammad is dead!!! Dude died more than a thousand years ago.

He was not even an original prophet but fake.

Islam should be sued for adulterated plagiarism!!

They copied the Bible and modified the characters to suit their ulterior motive.
