Monarch Accuses Firms Of Importing Foreign Rats, Cats! by henry101(m): 4:11am On Mar 30, 2011
The District Head of Kakuri, Kaduna South Local Government Area, Alhaji Shehu Tijjani, has raised the alarm over the invasion of the community by giant exotic rats and cats.

The monarch alleged that the giant rodents and cats were brought into the community through the containers belonging to companies operating in the neighbouring industrial area.

The monarch said this while speaking at the graduation ceremony of about 10 beneficiaries of the Total Nigeria Plc Skills Acquisition Programme.

He added that the giant rats and cats which now constituted a nuisance to the residents of the area, came into the community through the containers used by the firms to import raw materials.

He therefore urged the government to save the residents of the area from the menace of these foreign rats and cats by carrying out an extensive fumigation of the community.

According to him, the companies responsible for the unfortunate development has never bothered to assist the people in getting rid of the rodents and the cats.

He said, “Total Nigeria Plc is the only company that is assisting our youths through this training; others are importing foreign rats and cats to cause problems for us in the community.

“They bring these rats through their containers which they use for their industrial products. They don’t help us to fumigate the area.”

Tijjani commended the management of Total Nigeria for sponsoring the training of the youths in the community in various trades and advised the beneficiaries to use the opportunity given to them by the oil firm to assist others in the community.

The Corporate Affairs Manager of Total Nigeria Plc, Mrs. Moyo Areola, had earlier in her address, said that over N25m was spent on the training and procurement of work tools and equipment for the 10 beneficiaries.
